Oral Lee “Shorty” Forbes, 86
Shorty was a resident at The Charleston in Cedar Hills, Utah at the time of her death on March 7, 2012. She was born July 22, 1925 in Rio Blanco County, CO to Charles & Goldie Miller.
Raised on a ranch in Meeker, CO, she developed an abiding love of horses and became an excellent horse woman, going on to be the first woman ever to compete in a cow-cutting contest in Utah and winning the Western State Cutting Horse trophy in 1959 competing against men from several states. She went on to win many honors in Western, English and Drawing classes. She worked for the UDA-ASCS office and retired after 33 years of service in Rio Blanco, CO, Uintah and Utah Counties. She loved her job and association with farmers and was highly appreciated by all her co-workers.
After retirement she became involved in the water aerobics program in American Fork. She rarely missed a day and her commitment, smile and good humor was an inspiration to all.
She will be sorely missed by her wide circle of friends, her daughter Sharon, son-in-law Steven and granddaughter Saara. May she have everlasting peace.
