Alene Miller Pearson passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment to her family. She was born on May 10, 1937, in Provo, Utah, to Carlos Dutton and Vera Banks Miller.

Alene spent her early childhood in Vineyard, Utah, before moving with her family to a home in Provo overlooking what would later become Lavell Edwards Stadium. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955 and went on to attend Brigham Young University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1959.

She married Robert Vernon Pearson in the Salt Lake Temple on February 11, 1961. Together they built a life centered on faith and family, primarily in Montana, with a brief return to Provo while Robert completed his education. They were blessed with six children, 23 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Family was our mom's greatest joy.

In 1984, she opened a daycare in Fairfield, Montana, which she operated until 2004. She lovingly cared for many children over the years and maintained lasting relationships with many of them long after they had grown.

In 2006, Alene and Bob returned to Utah to be closer to their growing family, where she remained for the rest of her life. She treasured every opportunity to attend her grandchildren's events, host family gatherings, and enjoy visits from loved ones in her home.

Alene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was evident in the way she lived her life. She attended weekly church services and worshipped in the temple regularly. She served in a variety of callings throughout her life and was diligent in her ministering, faithfully visiting and caring for her sisters each month until close to the end of her life.

Alene had an extraordinary memory for names and dates and never missed a birthday or anniversary. She was known as the family's "bargain queen," with an unmatched ability to find the best deals and stretch every dollar. She loved shopping trips, especially Saturday outings to Great Falls with her daughters, and took pride in making the most out of every purchase. Her careful stewardship and resourcefulness blessed her family, particularly during the lean years of farm life.

Alene had a special love for Christmas. Despite limited means during her children's younger years, she made each Christmas meaningful and memorable. Even later in life, she continued the tradition of making the season special by decorating cookies with her grandchildren and gathering family on Christmas Eve to share the Christmas story.

She valued hard work, education, and service, and was rarely idle. Whether tending her home or yard, or visiting her children, where she would cook, clean, and care for her grandchildren, she left every place better than she found it.

Alene also treasured her friendships deeply. She maintained lifelong connections with friends from her childhood, her years in Montana, and later in Lehi. These friendships were a source of strength and joy, and she remained in close contact with many of them throughout her life. As her health declined, her friends continued to gather with her regularly in her home, reflecting the enduring love of those relationships.

She is survived by her children Todd (Debbie) Pearson, Ryan (Judi) Pearson, Lisa (John) Peterson, Collette Shaw, and Lance (Debra) Pearson, as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pearson; her daughter and son-in-law LaNae and Phil Downs; grandsons Blake Pearson and Ethan Peterson; her parents; her stepmother Elva Killian Miller; and her siblings LaWana (Austin) Dittmore, Bruce (Bernice) Miller, and Mary Jean (Maurice) Johnson.

We find comfort in knowing that through her faith in Jesus Christ and His plan of salvation, our mom has returned to her Heavenly Father and has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Utah Veterans Cemetery Chapel at Camp Williams, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. A viewing will be held from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m.
