Saratoga Springs, Utah - Allan Eugene Topham known as Gene, returned to his Heavenly Father at his home on August 4th, 2024 at the age of 88 in Saratoga Springs. He passed away peacefully with his family closely gathered around him. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was born on March 28th, 1936 to John Herbert and Golda McBride in Cedar City, Utah. He married Sharon Elizabeth Kelsey on August 10th, 1956 in the Los Angeles Temple. They raised 5 children, Julie (Randy) Thelander (Sparks, NV), Suzanne (Jeff) Smith (Wallowa, OR), Jeffrey (Chris) Topham (Eagle Mountain, UT), Diane (Darin)Garrett (Eagle Mountain, UT), Julie (Scott) Greenlee (Roseville, CA).
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gene served many callings including Bishop, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, Executive Secretary, High Councilor, and Bishop's Councilor in the South Tahoe Ward, Carson City Nevada Stake. He was called on a mission in later life as a service missionary at the Layton Dry Pack Cannery in Layton, Utah for 9 years.
He grew up the eldest of 6 children in Paragonah, Utah. He spent time living in Cedar City, UT, Lake Elsinore, CA, South Lake Tahoe, CA, Layton, UT, Nampa, ID, Saratoga Springs, UT, and his home away from home, Maui, HI. Some of his favorite activities include water skiing, snowmobile racing, bowling, wind surfing and many others. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and seeing the world. His love of life and peaceful presence will be missed by all.
A celebration of life honoring Gene will be held at 10am on Saturday August 10th, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Heritage 2nd Ward, 233 E Schoolhouse Road, Saratoga Springs, Utah 84045. The viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at 9am. Those that want to participate in the service remotely may view at https://zoom.us/j/94883672660?pwd=78faYwOuXjPgCLSijllHF7QMkp6XJ4.1 . Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery at 685 N Main St, Cedar City, UT 84721 at 3pm August 10th, 2024.
