Anna Mae Barnes

Anna Mae was born in Elsinore, Utah on 11-22-33 to May Hatchett Robinson and Joseph H. Robinson. She was the seventh out of ten children. Anna was baptized at the age of 8 as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from Richfield High School at the age of 18. She married Freeman J. Barnes of Lehi, on 16 August 1952 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 5 May 1967. Together, they have 3 daughters, Camile, LeAnn, and Lora. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. 

Anna Mae was active in her ward and stake serving in the Primary, the Relief Society, as a Librarian and served a Stake Mission with her husband, Freeman.

Anna Mae was exceptionally talented when it came to her hands. She could sew anything and everything. She sewed all of her children’s clothing, made countless beautiful quilts, was a skilled painter and enjoyed making various sorts of crafts. She made countless Leprosy bandages and donated them to the Church. 

Freeman and Anna Mae always maintained a beautiful garden filled with fruit trees, vegetables, berries and flowers. She bottled and preserved everything she could get her hands on. Her black raspberry jam was the best! She would share what she harvested with whom ever would come and get any surplus. She loved to fish and camp and did both for many years. She also had a love for genealogy and spent much time in researching and preserving her family history.

Her last few years were spent residing at the assisted living facility, Abbington Manor, with the last few weeks with Hospice. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and caregivers who assisted with her care and made her final years more comfortable.

Anna Mae passed away in her sleep on the morning of July 15, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings, two grandsons and three great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Wing Mortuary in Lehi on July 22, 2026, from 6-8 pm. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at a graveside service in the morning of July 23, 2026, at 11:00AM in the Lehi Cemetery.
