Bette Lou Brooks Walker, loving and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on September 9, 2022. She crossed through the veil of this life into the welcoming arms of her Heavenly Father, her loving husband, parents, grandparents and other family members.

Bette Lou was born on May 29, 1934, to Arreva May Gurney Brooks and Charles William Brooks in Lehi, Utah.   Bette Lou was part of a loving family with one sister Gloria and a brother Bob. She was an active child and began her passion for genealogy at the young age of 12, when she would take her notebook and pencil and "interview" her many aunts', uncles and other relatives. Bette Lou played the clarinet in high school and was part of the Lehi Pioneers marching band. It was through this participation that she met the love of her life, Lorin Dale Walker and they were married on November 7, 1952, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were devoted sweethearts for 54 years before his passing in 2006.

Bette Lou and Dale chose to make Lehi their home and raised five wonderful children who were the center of their lives. Bette Lou and her family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and were members of the Lehi 10 ^th ward. Bette Lou, as the mother of four boys was passionate about scouting and was a dedicated den mother and merit badge counselor. Not only did she guide her boys to becoming Eagle Scouts, but she also assisted many other boys in attaining that rank.   She was known for her toughness, integrity and honesty as she would insist that they do the work themselves and know the skills before she would sign them off. She was also the key support for their daughter Sherry in all her pursuits as she achieved the Young Womanhood medallion and, in her education to become a nurse.

Family was always top priority to Bette Lou, and she was the sterling example of family always coming first. She was the supporting "wind beneath the wings" for her children and their many activities as well as her husband Dale and his many volunteer civic duties. Dale and Bette Lou were honored for their contributions to Lehi by being selected as the Grand Marshalls of Lehi's Roundup Days in 2001 and were also honorees of the Lehi Historical Society's "Lehi Walk of Fame" in 2015.

Bette Lou was known for her quick wit, sassiness, sense of humor, positive "can do" attitude, honesty, her loving generosity, her near-perfect memory and her acceptance of everyone. If Bette Lou knew you, she loved you. Bette Lou was an accomplished quilter, crocheter and craft woman.

She was the life of the party and kept everyone laughing. She always wanted her family around her for every holiday and any occasion she could think of. She was the glue that kept her family and extended family together.

She was very involved in the raising of her grandchildren and taught them many important life skills, such as quilting, crocheting, plastic canvas as well as the importance of working hard, and made sure they knew their reading, writing and arithmetic. She loved camping with her family, vacations with family, anything outdoors and anything involving picnics and games, especially gin rummy and other card games.

Bette Lou loved genealogy and served two missions for the Church as a World-Wide Family Search, genealogy missionary. She loved helping the people who would call in, asking a variety of genealogy questions. She loved searching out her own ancestors and loved assisting others in finding theirs.

We love and miss you so much – you are a part of us and are in our hearts always and forever.

Bette Lou is survived by three of her children, Perry Brooks Walker, Lehi, Larry Lorin Walker (Jeanne), Lehi and Barry Charles Walker, Lehi as well as 14 grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorin Dale Walker, their daughter, Sherry Lou Walker Flewallen (Steven), their son, Terry Dale Walker, daughter-in-law, Susan Carter Walker, a grandson, Brevin Jed Harris, her sister Gloria Brooks Hunter Lawton, her brother, Charles Robert Brooks and her parents.

A viewing will be held at Wing Mortuary, Friday evening, September 16 ^th from 6-8. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 17 ^th at the Lehi 10 ^th Ward Chapel/Stake Center located at 1251 West 900 North at 11:00 am with a viewing from 10:00 – 10:30 am.

We wish to thank Mele, Lurlene and Love, who were her loving caregivers for the last year, as well as Harmony Hospice Care for their patient love and assistance.
