Blaine Pernoux Anderson passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 16, 2020 in Alpine, Utah where he has resided for the last seven years since the passing of his beloved companion, Alta Lyle Barratt. He was just shy of his 92nd birthday.

At 6 feet 4 inches tall, Blaine stood head and shoulders above the crowd, but it was his goodness that made him a giant among men. He served this Father in Heaven valiantly, which included two full-time missions and in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Alta served in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos temples for many years. He served his country in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He loved, served, and supported his family, which includes six children, 43 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He has always been generous with his time, labors, and resources.

Blaine devoted his youth to working on the family farm with rarely a break. He remembers crawling on the ground thinning beets until his knees were sore and swollen. His work ethic was remarked on by many people who were the grateful recipients of his labors. Whenever there was work to be done, Blaine was always there to lend a helping hand and didn't quit until the work was finished.

He was a star high jumper in high school. On the day of the track meets he would work on the farm until time for his event, then jump in the car, compete, and head back to work on the farm. In 1946 he broke the Alpine School District high jump record. He played basketball in high school and on his mission in New Zealand and also coached the mission basketball team.

In virtually every job Blaine had, after leaving, he was asked by his former employers to come back because of the value he brought to the company. For 23 years he commuted 160 miles a day round trip to Dugway Proving Ground, working as an electronics technician.

He loved being with family, often as a quiet participant, but always enjoying the time spent together. He enjoyed swimming, ice skating, camping, hiking, music, theatrical productions, reading, and singing. His beautiful tenor voice complimented the multiple choirs and ensembles in which he participated. In elementary school he learned to play the harmonica and baritone and even in his later years he could still play with the excellence of a virtuoso. He was in the Lehi Silver Band for many years.

Every year, up to and including the last summer of his life, Blaine grew a beautiful vegetable garden at his home in Lehi.

His children include Kert (Tracy) Anderson, Jeff (Shellie) Anderson, Kerri Evans, Jerri (Zac) Zamenski, Paula (Daniel) Ruesch, and Wayne (Janae) Anderson.
