Bonnie Hardman was a remarkable woman—a vibrant personality and a force to be reckoned with. With her larger-than-life spirit, she was always the life of the party, bringing energy and unforgettable moments wherever she went. Bonnie joined life’s after-party on August 19, 2026, at the age of 78 in Lehi, UT. We are sure she is joking, laughing, and winning every Scrabble game with loved ones she hasn’t seen in a long time.
On January 11, 1948, Bonnie was born in Heber, UT to Warnell Gleason MacNaughtan and Shirley Ardell Clyde. She grew up in Old Town Lehi with her sister Brenda MacNaughtan and brother Jim MacNaughtan. They loved running around with the neighborhood kids and playing games at Wines Park until the street lights came on. After graduating from Lehi High School, she fell in love with and married one of those Lehi boys, Gary Hardman. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 29, 1972 and together they raised three wonderful children: Brittany, Sonny and Betsy. The surest way to make Bonnie happy would be to have one of her three kids walk in the room. Family has always been at the center of Bonnie’s life.
Throughout her life, Bonnie showed exceptional talent, leadership, and creativity across many areas. She was an accomplished racquetball player, known for her “killer serve” and precise backhand. She competed in numerous tournaments, winning both singles and doubles titles, and earned several trophies along the way. In her final years, with her memory fading, she was always happy if she thought she was going to ‘the old racquetball courts’. That was the place she felt joy.
As Parade Chairman in Lehi, Bonnie organized some of the most memorable parades the city has ever seen, complete with stunning floats, classic cars, and marching bands. She also played a key role in running the Lehi Roundup Rodeo, helping create events the community will never forget.
Her leadership extended into education as well. As PTA President for many years, Bonnie brought creativity and excitement into the school experience. She wrote and performed the lively “Lehi Elementary” school song and created the beloved school mascot, Lehi Light.
Later in life, Bonnie turned her creativity into a successful business, founding BonRitz Weddings, named after herself and her two daughters. For many years, she designed and coordinated beautiful weddings across Utah County. Her talent for floral design shone through her stunning bouquets and large decorative arrangements, making each event unique and memorable. Bonnie was always moving, working, creating, and making things happen!
After Gary passed away in 2016, Bonnie found great joy working in the temple, where she dedicated many years of service. She was always strong in her LDS faith and served in various roles planning extravagant ward activities, writing songs and scripts for road shows, teaching young women, instructing cub scouts, serving in the cannery, assisting in BYU student wards, and doing so much more. She put 110% into her church callings and influenced many livesthrough them.
With 10 grandchildren, Bonnie was a big influence for the next generation—keeping them all on their toes with her funny antics, crazy comments and quick wit. You never knew what grandma was going to do or say. Maybe she’d show up with a huge sombrero to take you to get tacos or dress you up as Charlie Chaplin to sing to the neighbors for Valentine’s Day.
Even in Bonnie’s final years, she kept her spunk and candor. We are grateful for the patient staff at Covington Senior Living in Lehi who got to experience it and loved her through it all. She could keep you laughing, that’s for sure.
Although it won’t be as eventful without her here, we want to invite all family and friends to help celebrate Bonnie’s life on Friday, August 28th. A viewing will be held that morning from 9:30-10:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Services will be held at the LDS chapel at 2790 N Center Street, Lehi, UT 84043. The interment will be at Lehi Cemetery directly after the funeral.
Those of us keeping the party alive on Bonnie’s behalf include her kids: Brittany (Steve) Little and their children Kaitlyn, Harrison, Priscilla and Amelia; Sonny (Carolyn) Hardman and their boys Grayson (Vanessa), Asher, Beckett and Cohen; and Betsy Christensen and her children Kennadie and Hailie. Her sister, Brenda MacNaughtan, and her Brother, Jim (Debbie) MacNaughtan and their children.
