Boyd Sabey
Stewart
Aug 6, 1935 — Jul 9, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Boyd Stewart, on July 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Boyd was born on August 6, 1935, to Raymond and Alice Stewart of Lehi, Utah.
Boyd was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a deep love for his family and for the gospel of Jesus Christ, which guided his life.
He attended schools in Lehi and later earned a track and field scholarship to Brigham Young University. On August 2, 1955, Boyd married his high school sweetheart, Renee Price, in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they were blessed with five children and shared twenty-eight wonderful years until Renee passed away in 1983, while Boyd was serving as Stake President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ten years later, Boyd was fortunate to find love and happiness again with Kathy Daly Buckner. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 15, 1993. Kathy brought three children into Boyd's life, Kristie (Rich) Reimann, Casie (Dragos) Munteanu, Tony (Kaitie) Buckner, whom he loved and cared for as his own. Boyd and Kathy later served together as missionaries in the Florida Tampa Mission. He experienced the sadness of loss again when Kathy passed away on July 20, 2024.
Throughout his life, Boyd faithfully served in many church callings, including Elder's Quorum President, Bishop, High Councilman and Stake President. He also served as Branch President, and as a Counselor at the Missionary Training Center.
As a young boy, Boyd worked at his father's feed mill and lumber company, earning 10 cents an hour. He later helped run the family dairy farm, learning to care for 75 head of milk cows. He also served in the National Guard for five years.
Boyd built his career at Price Brothers IGA Grocery Store, where he excelled and became part owner. After many years serving the public, he sold his share of the business and went to work at Brigham Young University as a butcher, eventually becoming manager of the meat department.
He loved gardening and took great pride in his yard. He especially enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables and sharing them generously with family, neighbors, and those in need.
Boyd is survived by: Annette (Brent) Sanderson of Lehi, Utah; Stephen (Lori) Stewart of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Carolyn (Loney) Hutchinson of Lehi, Utah; his brother, Lee (Nancy) Stewart of Lehi; Kay (Gary) Sampson, of Lehi. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Stewart, and his son, James (Tiffany) Stewart of Lehi, Utah; two brothers, Paul Stewart and Carl (LaRee) Stewart; and his sister Lela (Harold) Tanner. He was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved with all his heart.
Boyd lived a life of service, faith, and devotion to his family. His kindness, example, and love touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered with great love and gratitude.
With loving hearts, we want to thank the Symbii Hospice Team—Tanica, Jesse, Peggy, Allison, and Lorna—for their tender and compassionate care of our dad. You will forever be in our hearts.
