Burke Lynn Rigby, 49, of American Fork Utah, passed away on Monday November 23, 2020. He was a special spirit on loan to us here on earth, and if you had the pleasure to know him, you had the privilege to be considered a friend.

Burke was born on January 15, 1971 to Sue and Perry Rigby in American Fork Utah. In a very small town full of a very large group of people, Burke was from the start his own person. From writing his name in chalk on the sidewalk trying to define his name to his neighbor, his love for the english language started very young. He was confident in who he was and never wavered when it came to being there for a friend. His passion for music and taste for the underdog began at a very early age and he was uninfluenced by others opinion, having a keen ear for the untraditional amazing talent he appreciated.

Burke's love for words, poetry and music was inspiring to others. His taste and flair for originality and a nostalgic appreciation for these unique artists led his own "groupies" to experience with him many concerts and venues that would leave others sharing in his passion.

Burke was a family man, he loved his parents and his sister Jill who was also his best friend. He was extremely close with his cousin Brandt and his uncle Jerry. He became the favorite uncle and held many nicknames, "Uncie", "Boo", "Daddio", "Son", "Papa" and "Burkie". It was the close relationship with his family that was a great asset when he started his own family. He married Cindy Smith Rigby and together had his beautiful daughter Rain, his son James and son Alyx. These children became Burke's life, he was a dedicated father and provided and sacrificed for these children with all his heart from the moment he met each of them.

Sticking to Burke's usual beat of a different drum, when life happened and he was challenged with parenting, as a soloist, well, he rocked it! He dedicated all he had to his three children and loved them as a father but more importantly he loved them as respected humans and never wavered on his promises.

Just like all humans, Burke had his own demons that kept his world pretty small, but he was extremely loyal to the well-being and upbringing of his tribe, and nothing would jeopardize that. Where any father may struggle with availability to his children, Burke was natural at giving his attention, time and interest to each of his kids, making them all feel they were his favorite any time he was needed by them. In a world full of distractions and interruptions, he could be old school, being fine with a flip phone sometimes not charged, with attending to the matter at hand. He never changed how loud he listened to music even till his last day, always filling his world with music and love he felt when he played it.

He had a natural calming aura about him. He was a friend that if you had a problem, he was able to talk you off your ledge, not only wise in his advice but assuring in his passionate words, explaining your strength to get through whatever challenges you were facing. He was humble and when those around him may have fought to be right, he would always choose instead to be kind.

American Fork is no longer small, but it has lost a unique and important part of its luster! He has left us with unbearable pain having to continue without him but all being better to have known him. He is enjoying the company of folks he admired and especially the volume of his daily free of charge concerts, which of course is the best kind!

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 11:00AM at Wing Mortuary, 118 E Main Lehi, UT.
