Cari Ann Smith was born October 8, 1974 in Salt Lake City to James and Christine Smith, the oldest of 6 children. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was endowed in the Jordan River Temple on March 23, 1996 and she loved going to the temple. Cari had a heart full of love and she shared that love with everyone she met.

Her heart mostly belonged to her nieces and nephews. She loved all 15 kids with all her heart. She tried to spend as much time as she could with them. For their birthdays, it wasn't about things, she would have a one on one date with whoever was having a birthday. They got to go to the place of their choice with her. The kids loved it.

Cari loved to travel, it didn't matter where. She loved new places, to learn the history, the people, the food. She loved to get souvenirs and gifts wherever she went as long as the souvenir was locally made. She wanted the authentic pieces of the places she visited. Whenever she went on a trip she would have to buy extra luggage to get them all home. She would take selfies of the people she met and those that helped her. If she saw a veteran anywhere she would thank him for his service and, if she could, she would get their story. She loved people and shared that love with anyone she met. Cari loved hunting and fishing, especially with her dad. She loved major league fishing and would watch with her dad or anyone that would watch, guessing the weight of the fish before it was weighed to see who guessed the closest. She spent her last hunt with her dad in December of 2023. They went whitetail hunting in Wisconsin and she bagged an awesome buck.

Cari was a nurse and loved it. She loved serving and helping people. She got her RN first but went on to get her Bachelor of Science in nursing later. She was devastated when she couldn't work as a nurse anymore because of her cancer. Cari had fought cancer 4 different times. She was able to beat the cancer for the first 3 times but couldn't beat the last one. She fought as hard as she could but finally decided to go out on her own terms and she did. She lost the battle with her last cancer on January 18, 2025.

Cari loved the gospel. She always was learning about the gospel, her Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ. When she found out she was terminal, she increased her study of the gospel. She tried so hard to do everything right so she could be righteous enough when she met her Savior. She loved working with the young women, which was her favorite calling. She had a saying she would ask her loved ones. She would say "Guess what?" The person would respond "what?" and she would reply "I Love You". She shared her love so freely with everyone.

We want to thank the doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Center that took such good care of her during the last 3 cancers she had. We would like to thank all her friends and loved ones that were always willing to spend time with her, especially when she needed it. We would like to thank the wonderful members of the North Ranch ward that were absolute angels through all her struggles. She loved you all so much.

Cari is preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her parents, her siblings, JJ (Mandi), Josh (Missy), Kelli (Scott), Jason, Jesse and innumerable friends and family. Also her nieces and nephews, Brooklyn, Macy, Deacon, Cash, Shayla, Wyatt (Lindsay), Ethan, Rowan, Kadyn, Harper, Georgia, Benjamin, Brighton, Blake, and Noa all of whom she adored with all her heart.

There will be a viewing on Friday, January 24 at the church located at 9475 Mustang Way in Eagle Mountain, Utah from 6-8:00 PM. Her funeral will be on January 25 at the same church at 11:00 with a small viewing from 10:00 to 10:45. She will be interred at the Eagle Mountain Cemetery.
