Carilyn Miller Pierpont

October 15, 1942 - April 22, 2023

Our wonderful grandma, mom, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, at her home in Lehi, Utah, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and husband at the age of 80.

She was born on October 15, 1942 in Ogden, Utah, to her loving parents LaRae and Emmett Miller. She was the proud big sister to her siblings Wayne Miller, Edward Miller, and Marcia Saul.

As a little girl she lived in Oneida, Idaho, Weber, Utah, and Olmstead Power Plant, located at the mouth of Provo Canyon.  Mom always had the fondest memories and told the most happy stories of growing up in these places along with her parents, siblings, and friends.

She attended Lincoln High School and finished her high school years at the brand new Orem High School where she was a Tigerette (Pep Club) and was a member of the Thespian Club. Mom had a beautiful singing voice as a young women. She also found her two best friends at school, Linda Lamb, and Margie Ferguson who she loved and had amazing times and memories with.

She was a very dedicated student and extremely hard worker, she took the opportunity to study whenever she could and offered her smarts and help to her brothers and sister.

Mom graduated with a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. She majored in English.

She married Smoot Pierpont October 8, 1965, and wasted no time starting a family. She had 5 children that she truly adored and loved them all dearly and lived each day for them.

Scott (Rebecca) Pierpont, David (Rebecca) Pierpont, Paul (Jennifer) Pierpont, Susan (Scott) Russell, and Natalie (Mace) McKinney.  Our mom was the most gentle, kind, selfless, soft-spoken, simple, loving mom.

Mom was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Amelia, Hannah, Jordan, Jacob, Zachary, Sierra, Madison, Rylee, Alyssa, Clancy, Chloe, Keylee, Keircy, and 1 great-granddaughter Evelynn and 1 more great-granddaughter who is on the way. We know without a doubt that she is with her new great-granddaughter and her grandson giving them all her grandma loves and kisses.  She was a supportive grandma and was very proud of all of her grandkids. She looked forward to attending her grandkids activities and events.

She was an avid reader of all subjects, loved flowers, plants, and gardening and sitting on her patio enjoying the warmth of the sun.  Mom never claimed to be a seamstress or really loved sewing but her mother taught her enough to get by and kept all of us kids and grandkids clothes mended and looking top notch.  She spent countless hours and hard work canning the produce harvested from her garden and fruit trees that we all enjoyed all year long.  She made the most scrumptious cracked wheat bread that we all are still craving today!  Mom always loved taking walks especially when she had a friend to accompany her. She had the most beautiful, hair, skin, and nails and gave the best back scratches with her amazing hands! Mom made sure you never left the house without having a hot breakfast, that was very important to her.

Mom was also known as Mrs. Pierpont to many. She was the owner and teacher of her in home very popular and highly sought out Pierpont's Preschool, where she taught for many years and loved hundreds of  kids/students.  Still to this day her homemade play-dough/salt-dough is famous and has never been forgotten for those who had the pleasure to sculpt and play with the dough or for those who loved to sample the taste.

Mom, grandma, wife, sister, and friend, you will truly be missed and never forgotten. Not having you here with us in this life is a huge loss for our family but we know that you are happy, safe, loved, feeling amazing and you are now "fancy free."

Graveside Services for family and close friends will be at Lehi City Cemetery, Saturday May 6th at 11:00 am.
