Carla Sorenson Turner, 79, cherished daughter, spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on December 27 in Lehi, Utah, surrounded by her beloved husband and children.

Carla was born in Murray, Utah on October 12, 1946, to Alvin L. and Wilma Morrill Sorenson. She grew up in Midvale, Utah, and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965. Carla married the love of her life, David L. Turner of Lehi, Utah, on May 28, 1965. They made their home in Lehi, where they raised their three children and built a lifetime of love and memories.

She is the loving mother of Tammy Kay (Earl Ray) Lowe, Joe Lee (Wanda) Turner, and Cindy Lynn (Leon) Spencer. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 24.5 great-grandchildren, who were the absolute light of her life. She was all smiles whenever they were with her.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Aleine Turner, her brother Shannan Sorenson, and her grandson, Eric Ray Lowe.

Though small in stature, her heart and tenacity more than made up the difference. She was often found crocheting, quilting, sewing, needlepointing, crafting, or cooking. She was the crafting lady who loved to decorate her home with her treasured creations and generously shared her handmade gifts with family and friends.

Her collection of handmade baby blankets will be treasured for generations to come by anyone who has been, or will be, blessed to receive one — and there are still hundreds waiting for babies to be born. She even knew how to turn a frozen orange juice can into entertainment.

Carla hosted the best holiday parties with the best homemade food, including her famous rolls and strawberry cheesecake. Her boundless compassion was evident in her unwavering dedication to serving others. She was actively involved in the Relief Society through visiting, teaching, and helping with funerals.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Health Hospice for their wonderful care during the last few months, especially our amazing nurse Marion and the many others who came into our home to care for Mom — especially Ashley, Kaili, and Jessica.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial/Graveside service on Saturday, January 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main Street in Lehi, Utah. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.
