Carolyn June Aldous Sims Obituary
Our beloved mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, Carolyn June Aldous Sims, unexpectedly passed away August 17, 2026. She was born on August 20, 1938, in Salt Lake City at the original Holy Cross Hospital, to Joseph Archie Aldous and Hazel Bauer Aldous. She was peacefully released from her earthly bonds, while enjoying the beautiful amenities around her home.
Carolyn was a mischievous child and the favorite sister to her brother Jay. She outgrew that phase and eventually they became best friends. . When he got married she gained the sister she always wanted.
She met the love of her life, Rowell Sims, at Olympus High School, where they dated and found they were soulmates. They got married June 27, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 69 years in this life and now have the Eternities to look forward to.
Carolyn made her house a home, from cooking to camping, fishing to fixing cuts and bruises. She learned all the survival skills that a mother of six needed to know, mostly, how to love unconditionally. She never yelled at her children, no spanking, and no time outs. She just had to lower her voice and give the “MOM” look so they knew she was serious. But mostly it was her constant happiness and her smile and shining eyes that set her apart from anyone else in the room!
She and dad loved to serve others. They turned the family home into a Bed & Breakfast – making it a Home away from Home for their guests. When they moved to their forever home in Saratoga Springs, they made so many new friends and added new family members. On their mission in North Carolina, they added their beloved missionaries as ‘adopted’ children. After they returned home, she continued her love of service for others. She found it difficult when she was the one in need of service. However, she graciously accepted this with her beautiful laughing eyes and her gorgeous smile!
She is preceded in death by her husband, her eternal sweetheart Rowell Sims, who was and now is her constant companion again. Also preceded by her Parents, Son-in-law Michael Davis, and Son Roger Sims.
Survived by Brother: Jay & Susan Aldous. Sister-in-law: Bjørg Sims. Her adoring children: Judy & Kevin Huggett, Shari Sims Davis, Louis & Denise Sims, Linda Scharman Sims, Kathryn Sims Cottle, and Kevin Sims. Her special grandchildren: Benjamin & Leslie Sims, Elizabeth & Christian Griffin, Emily & TJ Kwentus, Jessica & Daniel Martin, Andrew Cottle, Sara & Devin Christensen, Giles & Kayla Sims, Danielle & Kevin Arnone, Adam Sims, Timothy & Kaylan Sims, Weston & Elisabeth Sims, Ryan Davis, Rachael & Brayden Johnson, and Logan & Andi Sims. Her Great Grandchildren: McKinlee, Kathryn Denise, Ryden, Allie, Alex, Maddie, Camille, Bethany, Warren, Clara, Marshal, Clark, Scarlet, Nathaniel, Sebastian, Charlotte, Rosie, Sage, Ashlyn, Evelyn, Arlen, Lilith, Brynlee, River, and Alan. Her Grand dogs Moxie, Kitty, Ozi, Naira, Spock & Jim, and two separate flocks of grand chickens. As well as, many friends, neighbors, and special "adopted children & grandchildren".
Mom, Carolyn, you will be missed every moment, of every minute, of every day that we each have remaining here on earth. You are the most gentle example of how to love everyone, your beautiful sparkling eyes and glorious smile would light up every room or an aisle in a grocery store and bring happiness to complete strangers! For many people your hugs were the medicine they waited for all week long. Together with our dad, you have touched many people with your love and kindness and are great examples of caring, generous, and loving individuals. Mom, thanks for being such a great partner in your near perfect marriage. So many people comment on their love and respect for you, for being your genuine loving self and sharing everything you have had to better those around you. 3 days shy of your 88th birthday, and no matter how much time we had with you, it would never have been enough for us who have been left behind at your passing. We love you and miss you!
Love, Your Family
