Casey Laray
Bowler Bennett
Mar 20, 1969 — Feb 2, 2021
Casey LaRay Bennett passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021. She joined her eternal sweetheart, Kenneth Bennett, her parents, James and Beverly Bowler and a multitude of extended family, friends and adopted family.
Casey was born on March 20, 1969 in Payson, Utah. She was the youngest of 4 children and was always 'daddy's baby'! She grew up in Genola, Utah for a few years and then in Payson where her parents built a home.
It was discovered early in her life that Casey suffered from multiple congenital heart defects. She spent many months a year for several years at Primary Children's Medical Center. She had open heart surgery to repair what they could. However, Casey would always live with heart defects. The Drs also found one leg almost 2" shorter than the other when they first diagnosed her tumors. She wore special shoes with a heavy lift on one to even her out. That shoe could cause a lot of pain if she decided to be mad at you. She had another surgery to stop the long leg from growing and allow the shorter leg to catch up. Her mother was thrilled when they told her Casey would never be over 5' tall. (Mama fibbed her way to 5'). Obviously Casey far exceeded 5'!
She attended elementary, middle school, junior high and high schools, graduating from Payson High School in 1987. She attended Utah Valley Community College earning an associate degree in Early Childhood education. Casey loved children although her health prevented her from having any of her own. She became the favorite Aunt, primary teacher and neighborhood friend to children wherever she went.
Casey and Ken met on a blind date arranged by his aunt. (A complete stranger to Casey). They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 13, 1993. They made their home first in Alpine and later Eagle Mountain where they were loved and cared for by many neighbors and friends. She dedicated her life to helping Kenneth through his own health trials throughout the rest of his life. Casey brought him joy from day one. His family often commented how his face lit up whenever they were together.
Casey continued to suffer health problems throughout her life. Several unsuccessful attempts to remove the tumor only seemed to make it grow bigger. Her body finally gave out and she died peacefully in her sleep.
She is survived by her siblings, in laws, many extended family and countless friends.
Her body may be gone, but her love will always remain!
The family would like to express deep appreciation to the Bennett family. They loved her unconditionally. We would also like to thank Kacee Ewell and her family for adopting Casey's beloved fur baby Thor.
A viewing will be held at the Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah on February 6, 2021 from 11-1pm. A graveside service will follow that same day at 2pm at the Alpine City Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions there will not be a traditional funeral service held. To view the graveside service go to
