Obituary

Charles Frederick Parry (Fred) passed away April 29, 2025 at age 88 due to heart failure, in his Saratoga Springs, Utah home. Dad was cared for by our loving Mom, Nancy Josephine Wolber Parry, and she was at his side. Mom and Dad were married nearly 70 years and have a legacy of 76 family members. Dad always said 'we are blessed'.

Dad was born October 12, 1936 in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania to parents Herbert Burd Parry and Mary Elizabeth Mink. His humble childhood molded him to be hardworking, resilient and grateful. Dad quickly gave his paper route earnings to his mother because he knew it would help pay bills. Dad always said 'my mother deserves a mansion on high' because of her sacrifice raising six children as a single mother.

Dad graduated from Carrick High School and married Mom in October, 1955 in Pittsburgh. Christine and Carolyn were born and Dad was drafted into the Army serving over two years.  He attributes his Army service as the structure and development he needed. In the spring of 1962, our family of four drove with all we owned in a 1953 Ford 2 door car to southern California along Route 66.  Charlie was born in Los Angeles and Cliff and Curt were born in the Inglewood/Lennox area.  In 1975, our family moved to Newbury Park where home was for over 30 years.   Dad worked as a UPS driver and then 33 years as a bread delivery driver for Puritan Bakery.  He started his work day in the very early morning hours getting little sleep and worked hard to provide for our family.

After retirement, he worked another 12 years for Terry Lumber and then Mom and Dad moved to Saratoga Springs, Utah where they call home.

Dad was loved by everyone through his kindness, sense of humor and wit.  He loved his family, our American flag, scuba diving, his Zodiac raft, metal detecting, collecting antiques, biking or walking the trail looking for 'game' and his favorites were In 'N Out, hot chocolate, root beer, apple pie, oats, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Our family became baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Christmas Day 1965 and Dad served in many callings. The boys he served in Cub Scouts still remember and love him today.

Christine's passing in 2014 still brings us sadness, but we know Dad is reunited with her and other family and friends. Also, preceded in death are his parents, siblings Herbert Burd Parry II, Nana Belle Parry Shilts, brother in laws Richard Hess, Santley Sawyer, sister in law Hetta Mae Parry and daughter in law Stephanie Parry.

Dad is survived by our Mom, Nancy, with children Carolyn and Kevin Cammack, Charlie and Kathy Parry, Cliff and Heather Parry, Curt and Shawna Parry and Weiler and Marie Brown and 31 grandchildren and 30  great grandchildren along with siblings Lois Hess, Suzie Sawyer and Ed (Peggy) Parry and sister in law Audrey Parry and brother in law Bob Shilts and nieces and nephews.

We appreciate the loving and caring hospice team of Alison, Anna, Auturo, Juan and Ray and supportive neighbors.
