Curtis Larry Tracy, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at home with his family. He was born on September 3, 1932 to Joseph Ensign Tracy and Emma Ottella Eames Tracy in Almo, Idaho.

Larry was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At a time when missionary service by young men was less common, Larry was called to serve in faraway South Africa from 1954-1956. His father passed away while he was on the other side of the world. He would become a Bishop in Arizona, a Branch President at the MTC in Provo, Utah and in Bremerhaven, Germany, and a member of a Stake Presidency in the Stuttgart Germany Servicemen's Stake

Larry and his beloved wife, Ann, became sweethearts as teenagers and neighbors in their rural Idaho hometowns of Almo and Elba just 12 miles down the road from each other. Ann and Larry's mother and brothers made that long drive from southeastern Idaho to Manhattan to greet Larry off the ocean liner for his return by way of Cairo (where he rode a camel near the pyramids), the Mediterranean, and London. Forty years later Larry would return to South Africa with Ann as his mission companion.

Larry and Ann did not waste any time upon his return and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 26, 1956. Larry graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 1960 and entered the Staff Judge Advocate (JAG) Corps of the U.S. Army. Colonel Tracy retired from the Army in 1986 after almost 30 years of service. Larry, Ann and their three children would see the world – Germany (twice), Okinawa (Japan), Hawaii, and cities coast-to-coast in the Mainland USA. He also served in Vietnam while Ann and the kids anxiously waited in Murray, Utah close to Ann's sister, Ginger, and her family. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the M-16 Rifle Marksman Badge and numerous others. In 1968, he earned a Master of Law degree with a focus on Defense Procurement from a Military advanced education program affiliated with the University of Virginia.

Ann and Larry retired to Utah Valley in 1986 to be close to family after their decades of roaming the world. In 2005, Ann passed away far too early. Larry spent the next 17 years enjoying his family, but mostly missing his Ann.

Larry is survived by his children, Ken (Laurie), Allen (Heather), and Lisa (Ken) and by 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Attaining the age of 90, Larry outlived most of his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents (Joseph and Otella), all 5 of his siblings (Glen, Bert, Donna, Bill, and Bonnie) and by a sweet granddaughter (Michelle).

The family would like to express their particular gratitude to the Symbii Hospice, including nurses, Brooke, Dana and Wes; nursing aides, Lauren and Courtney; social worker, Corey; and chaplain, Allison.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Sunrise Meadows 2nd Ward Chapel, 947 North Jack Rabbit Run, Saratoga Springs, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. Burial will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Sunny Cedar Rest in Almo, Idaho.
