Dale Herbert
Price
Apr 20, 1929 — Oct 12, 2024
Dale Herbert Price passed away on October 12 at the age of 95. He was born April 20, 1929, to George Phillip Price and Nydia Fern Taylor Price in Lehi. He was the fifth of six children, and his father, George, owned and operated the Lehi Free Press. Dale attended Lehi Schools, graduating from Lehi High School in 1947.
Dale met Carma Gray, who would later become his wife, in the first grade. In high school, Dale was a talented athlete, excelling in football as a running back. He attended college at the College of Southern of Utah, where he played football until a knee injury ended his football career. He finished his studies at BYU, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Economics and Secondary Education, and a minor in English and Social Studies.
Carma and Dale married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1951; they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary this year. Dale served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, after which he began his career in teaching, first at Olympus Junior High School and then at Lehi High School in 1955. He completed a master's degree in education administration in 1957 and was appointed principal at the newly constructed Lehi High School in 1959. He served there for 20 years. Subsequently, he led the startup of the new Mountain View High School in Orem, where he was principal for seven years, finishing his career as Assistant Superintendent and Director of Personnel for Alpine School District.
Dale was active in the church and community, participating in the Lion's Club and Junior Chamber of Commerce, and serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the State Bank of Lehi. He also served as bishop of the Lehi 2nd Ward. Through the years, Carma and Dale have maintained close association with their friends from the days of their youth, getting together with them at least once a month for over 60 years. With Dale's passing, only four of "The Group" remain, and they continue to stay close.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, George, and Nydia Price; his siblings, Roger, Ronald, Zetella, Paul, and Beryl; and one granddaughter, Jessica. He is survived by his two sons Tracy (Pam), Lehi, UT and Ryan (JuLaine), Brigham City, UT; five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, at 11:00 AM at the American Fork 19th Ward Chapel, 1305 N 100 E in American Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to services. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery with military honors.
