David C. Whiteman

October 12, 1959 – October 17, 2025

David C. Whiteman, 66, of Lehi, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born in American Fork, Utah, on October 12, 1959, to Alice and Robert "Bob" Whiteman. He lived his entire life in Utah Valley, growing up in a close-knit family with siblings Robert Wright (Margaret), Bill Whiteman (Jan), Kathy Nelson, and Barbara Morehouse (Dan).

Dave followed in the footsteps of his dad, Bob, who was also a proud steelworker and union member. He dedicated over 20 years to Geneva Steel in Orem, working primarily in the blast furnace. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. He also served as a Griever (Union Representative) for the International Steelworkers Union, advocating for his coworkers with integrity and compassion. He retired in 1998 due to medical reasons.

On January 7, 1983, Dave married the love of his life, Sheree. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and devotion. He is survived by Sheree and their four children: Amie Nicholes, Alicia Nicholes Hagan, Matthew Whiteman, and Angela Whiteman Jenkins; his cherished grandchildren, Kaylinn Jones, Savanna Jones, Ayden Jenkins, and Alice Jenkins; his siblings, nieces, and nephews.

In March 1999, at age 39, Dave received a heart transplant, giving him a second chance at life. Doctors predicted he might have five to ten more years, but true to his spirit and courage, he fought for 26. His family will be forever grateful to the donor and their family for this extraordinary gift. The family would also like to thank Dr. Von Welch for his many years of compassionate care and support for Dave.

Though health challenges limited his physical abilities later in life, Dave's heart remained full. He loved fishing, golf, and especially spending time with his family. In his healthier years, he often took his kids on bike rides to the Yogurt Parlor or to McDonald's for breakfast. He made it a goal to spend time with his children and even taught them to drive on the back roads of Lehi by the time they were teenagers.

Dave will be remembered for his kindness, courage, resilience, sense of humor, and fierce love for his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, and mentor who always ensured everyone around him was cared for. He lived a life full of meaning and left behind a legacy of love, strength, and courage.
