David Timbrel Worlton passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Abbington Memory Care in Lehi of Parkinson's-related illness.

David was born in Lehi, Utah on February 2, 1941 and raised on a family farm in the Saratoga area. His parents were Dean Timbrel Worlton and Ivy Jeanette Russon. David was the oldest of their four children. He graduated from Lehi High School in 1959 and served 9 years in the Utah National Guard, including 6 months active duty. David served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ireland and Scotland from 1960-62.

Upon returning home, he began studies at the University of Utah. He graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and an MBA degree in business administration. The next 44 years of his career were spent as the electrical engineer, Senior Power Systems Engineer, and an engineering consultant for Kennecott Utah Copper.

David married Lorene Kay Hakes in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1970. The two of them built a home in the Lehi-Highland area and welcomed five children to their family. David loved his childhood on the farm and wanted the same thing for his children. He taught all five of his children to work, weed, drive, plant, and harvest on their 10 acres.

At an early age, David began taking piano lessons, which he excelled at for about ten years. He became the designated pianist everywhere he went, and even played with Bud Hutchings in his dance band for three years.

While serving his mission in Ireland and Scotland, he took an interest in the large organs in iconic European cathedrals. He had found his true musical outlet. After only a few lessons from Roy Darley, the Tabernacle organist, David became the designated organist at nearly every church meeting from that moment on. In 2004, David passed the extensive performance examination and was accepted into the American Guild of Organists.

David served in many callings in the church including, bishop of the Lehi 17 Ward, branch president at the MTC, BYU First Stake High Council, and a mission with his wife, Lorene in the Natural Resources department in the Church Office Building.

David is survived by his wife, Lorene; his five children, James (Heidi) Worlton, Marianne (Kirk) Leininger, J.Paul (Wendy) Worlton, Michelle (Newell) Andrus, and Michael (Ariane) Worlton; his 18 grandchildren; his sister Janette Allen, brother Doug Worlton, and sister-in-law, Evelyn Worlton.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the East Bench Chapel located at 1631 E. 900 N. Lehi, UT. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15 at 11:00 am at the same location with a viewing from 10:00 am to 10:45. Interment will be at the Lehi Cemetery.
