Diane Losee

Diane Losee, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Lehi, Utah, on June 14, 2026, surrounded by her sister, children, and grandchildren.

She was born Diane Maxine Holt, on November 9, 1931, in Murray, Utah, to Lawrence Holt and Letha Thompson Holt.  She was the second of four children.  She was raised in a humble home in South Jordan, Utah, where she attended school there, and later at Jordan High School in Sandy. During her youth, she formed lifelong friendships with two special friends, Elaine and Margie. Together, the three girls sang at local events, creating memories that Diane treasured throughout her life. She also developed a love for horses, especially the majestic Clydesdales owned by Margie's family, a passion that remained with her for many years.

On April 25, 1949, Diane married her sweetheart, Rex Lyman Losee. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. After marrying, they settled in Lehi, Utah, where they built a life together and raised their six children. In their early years together, Diane and Rex participated in the Provo Civil Air Patrol and enjoyed dancing at the Avon, camping, hunting, and horseback riding with friends.

Family was at the center of Diane's life. She and Rex created countless memories with their children through annual camping trips to Moab, Moon Lake, and Jackson Hole. As their family grew older, Diane and Rex enjoyed traveling to many destinations, including a memorable three-month adventure in Samoa when Rex's work took them there. Diane also loved traveling with her beloved sister, Arlene. The two were often referred to as "the twins" because of their similar appearance and personalities. Together they shared several cherished trips to Hawaii.

Diane worked for 26 years as the receptionist at the beauty salon in ZCMI. She had a flair for the dramatic and a love for fashion, jewelry, and all things glamorous. With her beautiful blue eyes, signature big black hair, and statuesque presence, Diane was noticed wherever she went. Sparkle and style were simply part of who she was.  Shopping was a favorite past time - not just for herself, but for others as well.

She also had a passion for cars and a need for speed. Over the years she owned a Mach 1, a Formula, a Camaro, and two Mustangs. Even into her eighties, it was not uncommon to see Diane out enjoying life behind the wheel of a sports car.

Family get-togethers were always a treat.  Diane and Rex were both excellent cooks and each had their own specialties.  Holidays were magical.  All the extras were included and her children and grandchildren got spoiled whether they deserved it or not.

Rex passed away in 1996.  Diane has been the lone parent for the Losee family for thirty years.  She  found companionship in her daughter Kerri, who had also lost her spouse. Together they became devoted travel partners, enjoying trips to Montana, Oregon, Wendover or wherever they could find a casino along the way.

The past year has been especially hard for Diane as she lost Kerri and her oldest son Greg.  That makes three of her six children who have gone before her.  She also lost a 16 year old son, Kelly, in a deer hunting accident in 1969.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Losee; her parents, Lonnie and Letha Holt; her children Greg Losee, Kerri Webb, Kelly K. Losee; her brothers and their wives Keith and Wanda Holt, Dennis and Leah Holt; her brother-in-law Norman Sims; her grandsons Kelly R. Losee and Brandon Losee; and her son-in-law Gary Kopinsky.

Diane was generous, witty, and fun-loving.  She was a wonderful conversationalist who spoke her mind honestly and lived life on her own terms.  While she loved many things, her greatest love was always her family.  She would do anything for her children, and her grandchildren adored her.  Known affectionately as Grandma DD, she made each grandchild feel special, and treasured every moment spent with them.  Each grandchild has a funny Grandma DD story to tell.  She was not the "typical" grandma type!

She is survived by her sister Arlene Sims; her children Kurt (Callie) Losee, Todd (Elaine) Losee, and Michelle (Greg) Peck; daughter-in-law Becky Losee; son-in-law Kyle Webb; 12 grandchildren; more than 40 great-grandchildren; at least 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held earlier that morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Lehi City Cemetery under the direction of Wing Mortuary.

Diane's legacy is one of love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her presence filled every room, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
