Obituary

Dolores (Lorie) Rae Perry Lunt, age 87, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, January 16, 2024. She was the cherished wife of 67 years to Clarence Gary Lunt and the loving mother of five children: Cory, Trace, Shon, Lisa, and Kristi. She relished her role as the grandmother of 21 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 21 great-grandchildren.

Born in Jerome, Idaho on May 20, 1936, to Veril and Dee Larsen Perry, Lorie was the second of three children. She attended Brigham Young University where she met her husband, Gary. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 14, 1956.

Lorie's life reflected her devotion to her family and faith. She was a dedicated wife and mother who loved her children dearly. Throughout her life, including 30 years as an Air Force spouse, she created a warm and lovely home through 32 moves. She capably managed her family and home while Gary served two years overseas in Thailand (during the Vietnam War) and Korea. While stationed in Germany, she enjoyed traveling throughout western Europe. Wherever she lived, she testified of her faith in Jesus Christ through her words and deeds. Her home was a place where many people, including some she barely knew, enjoyed her loving hospitality.

Lorie valiantly served at her husband's side on three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including an assignment as the inaugural matron of the San José Costa Rica Temple. Her life of selfless service included church callings as stake Relief Society president; a counselor in stake Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidencies; and as ward Relief Society president in Germany, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Among her many talents, Lorie was an accomplished painter. She used her artistic gifts to add beauty to her home, sew clothing and costumes, create crafts, and decorate loving hand-written notes that her family will always cherish. She enjoyed cooking, a challenging game of Boggle, and good conversations with family and friends.

Lorie is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Michael Cory (Carrie) Lunt, Tracy Brian (Janene) Lunt, Shon Gary (Janice) Lunt, Lisa Ann (Thayne) DeLange, Kristi Lee (JD) Jeppson; and her grandchildren, Cameron Lunt, Courtney Buell, Caroline Woods, Catherine Lunt, Cristin Lunt, Heather Butler, Michelle Brockbank, Brian Lunt, David Lunt, Tyler Lunt, Leah Whiting, Megan Parker, Garrett Kingsbury, Kyle Lunt, Alexis Hunsaker, Steven DeLange, Jessi Poulter, CJ Jeppson, Ethan Jeppson, Lucas Jeppson, and Marli Jeppson. Lorie's entire family, including her great-grandchildren, will dearly miss her.
