Dona Mae Carey McLain

On Tuesday, February 1, 2022, Dona Mae Carey McLain, loving wife, and mother of four, passed away at the age of 83. Dona was born on May 27, 1938, in Gilby, North Dakota to John and Isabel Carey. On October 11, 1959, she married Harold Wayne McLain in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Together they raised a daughter, Callie, and three sons, Tim, Kevin, and Scott.

Dona had a passion for creativity that showed in her lifelong love of sewing, home decorating, hairstyling, and church service. She always had a project underway and a flair for creating memorable experiences for those she served and loved. Her imaginative vision and enthusiasm often led to large and time-intensive undertakings that she truly enjoyed. She was a people person who always had a listening ear and caring advice for those in her beauty-shop chair. Dona was always supportive of her children's activities and spent many hours at the ballpark and basketball gym, even going so far as to become an expert baseball scorekeeper. In her later years, her grandchildren became the focus of her love and attention.

Dona was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been baptized at age 15. She cherished her opportunities to serve with the youth and young people of the church and was generous with her time, resources, and love. She served as a temple ordinance worker in the St. George Temple with her husband Wayne for 13 years.

Dona was preceded in death by her father, John, her mother, Isabel, and her siblings Shirley, Ed, and Bill. She is survived by her husband, Wayne, her four children Callie (Larry), Tim (Amber), Kevin (Julie), and Scott (Melinda), her 17 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the North Lake First Ward, 828 S. Center St., Lehi, Utah with a public viewing from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
