Donald Keith Swanson
August 30, 1946 ~ October 5th, 2022

Donald Keith Swanson, age 76, of American Fork, Utah passed away on October 5th 2022. He was born on August 30, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents Raymond Melvin and Lena Belle Swanson and his 5 siblings; Clinton (Patty) Swanson, Lloyd (Nola) Swanson, James (Frances) Swanson, Barbara Swanson, Jeanne Swanson and veteran comrades and many other family and friends. We guarantee it was a party when he arrived.

He was survived by his wife Peggy Jones Swanson and 3 daughters; Shelley Swanson Regan, Jennifer Lynn (Nick) Powell and Nichole Lee Swanson. 7 grandchildren Madalyn Grace Ludwig, Nikki May Powell, Kadelyn Powell, Hunter D (Destiny) Powell, Rylee Jade Currier, Kadi Madysin Powell, Samuel Ryle Regan, Keamyn J Hatch, Kage Justice Hatch. 2 great grandchildren, Harbor Lane Sistrunk and Dixie Powell.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Bushnell and the U.S.S. Wrangell during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. He worked as an Electrical Journeyman and obtained his Bachelor's Degree by only taking the exams. He retired as an Electrical Engineer.

He was a master of fabrication of any project that he could find. He had passion for everything he did, including making sure his hair was combed perfectly. He enjoyed frog giggin, mud diggin, hunting, fishing and camping in the backwoods of Louisiana and Utah. Don married his wife, Peggy "sweetie pie" 43 years ago on June 2, 1979 at the Olsen Ranch in Joes Valley, Utah. In his later years, they enjoyed riding on their Harley Davidson's and tinkering in the garage.

Don was a legend, a great friend, a hard worker, and a proud American that will be missed by everyone he knew.

Honorary Military Tribute will be on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
