Obituary

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Donna Rae Evans Gordon passed away suddenly on July 27, 2023.  She was born on January 30, 1936 in Susanville, California, the firstborn of Neldon Sylvester ("Dick") and Dorothy Smith Evans. She married Grant Rudger Gordon November 16, 1955 in the Salt Lake City Temple.  Together, they raised four children in the home they built on Lehi Main Street.

Donna graduated from Lehi High School in 1954.  She became a licensed beautician and worked out of her own home for many years.  Many of her regular clients came every week.  They seemed to become part of the family.  That's the way she made everyone feel.

She was also a beloved librarian at Lehi Elementary School for many years, making and maintaining lifelong friendships.  She instilled in many a love of books and reading.  She was also known for her willingness to help everyone (student or faculty), the Chicken Dance, and original Halloween costumes.

Donna and Grant built a second home ("the Cabin") in Mt. Pleasant to share with the family, extended families and many friends.  They both served in different capacities on the board of Pine Creek Ranch and made many friends on the mountain.

Donna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities while her children were young.  She and Grant were dedicated ministering companions to couples in their home ward.  Donna was a humanitarian at heart, always sewing and serving those she loved, and even those she didn't know, by donating quilts, pillowcases, bed mats, whatever was needed.

Donna is survived by her children; Kellie, Evan (Pam), Chris (Tisha), and daughter-in-law, Delinda.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a sister (Sandra Worthen), brother (Jay Evans) and a longtime son-in-law, Steve Carlton.

Donna was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Grant, her firstborn son, Jeff, her parents, two siblings (Robert "Bob" Evans and JoAnn Evans), Grant's parents and his siblings.

To know her was to love her - and be loved by her.  It didn't matter who you were, she made you feel like her favorite!  Her family takes comfort knowing she  passed away doing something she loved - traveling the world.  She will be sorely missed.
