Donna Janete Hutchings Jensen, the daughter of Samuel Walter Hutchings and Salena Berry Hutchings Symes, passed away of natural causes at age 93 on April, 11, 1931, in Alpine, Utah.  She was born in Lehi on March 19, 1931, and raised in Bountiful.

Born during the Great Depression, she had the additional travesty of seeing her older brother DeLoy die when she was six months old, followed by two family deaths in 1938, first her father and her older sister, Madge.  Raised by her mother, she graduated from high school, and was taking courses and working at a bank when she met an Air Force serviceman on leave from New York, who was visiting his father in Bountiful.  Janete married Reed David Jensen, a native of Richfield, Utah, on December 26, 1952, and went to Long Island, New York, where she again was working at a bank.  While they were in Long Island, ward members were influential in raising Janete and Reed's level of church activity, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 6, 1954.

This union saw four children:  Dennis Reed Jensen (1954-present), Teri Kae Jensen (1956-1997), Kim David Jensen (1962-2015), and Devin Vance Jensen (1966-present).  The family liked to travel, usually towing a trailer.  They lived in several western states.  Her mother died in Lehi in 1982 and her older brother, Berry Hutchings, died in Bountiful in 1993.  After her husband, Reed, passed away in 1986, Janete took up residence in the Lehi house her father had erected in 1921 (though she also was a St. George snowbird), until health conditions necessitated hospice care.  Each year until she was well into her eighties, she could be found traveling with one of her sons until she had visited all fifty states and a high number of foreign countries on every populated continent.

Janete has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over seventy years.  All of her children served missions, and she served a mission herself to British Columbia in the 1990s.  All of her children were educated at Brigham Young University.  She is survived by two sons, Dennis of Riverside, California, and Devin of Lehi, twelve grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, April 20, 11:00 AM, at Wing Morturary, 118 East Main Street, Lehi, Utah.  A viewing will be held at the mortuary starting at 10:00 AM prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
