Douglas Victor Erickson

Douglas Victor Erickson lived a long and full life and has now passed away peacefully. He returned home to his Savior and loving wife on September 30, 2026.

Doug was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and extraordinary friend. He brought much joy to many people.

He was born on July 28, 1929 to H. LeRoy and Erma Sophia Erickson of Salt Lake City Utah. He was the second of four boys.

He grew up in Garfield and East Millcreek Utah. He served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Southern States Mission from 1950-1952.

He married his high school sweetheart Yvonne Marler in 1952. Their union produced two amazing sons Brad and Brian. They later divorced.

Doug served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

When he came home he started his professional career in the credit industry. He held a variety of positions in the financial and credit industry throughout his long career retiring from Geneva Rock as a credit manager in the 1990’s.

He was introduced to the love of his life, Mary Street in the early 1970’s. They were married on June 17, 1972 and later sealed in the Timpanogos Temple on May 9, 2026. This union brought Doug 2 additional sons and 2 daughters: Leslie, Bob, Kathy and Steve.

They maintained their home in East Millcreek for around 40 years. Mary and Doug developed a love for travel and started spending winters in Bullhead City, Arizona. Their time in Bullhead City brought great joy and developed their golf games, bowling scores, and lifelong friendships. While Doug learned to love golf at a young age, his golf game became a predominant part of his life in Bullhead City. He and Mary spent many summers camping, fishing, and enjoying time outdoors. Doug also loved to socialize with friends and could often be found playing pinochle and other card games with his sweetheart Mary. They also traveled to Canada, the western United States, and Mexico with a small group of their resort friends.

When life circumstances made it evident that they needed a safer and more supportive single level home they moved to Spring Gardens (formerly Covington) in Lehi Utah. He lived his remaining years in Lehi as a loved resident.

Doug is preceded in death by his sweet wife Mary, his parents and siblings, his son Robert (Bob) Newman, granddaughter Brooke LaChance, great-grandaughter Sarah Doehrman, grandsons Waylon Blackburn and Justin Jones and great-grandson Alex Blackburn.

He is survived by his daughters Leslie (Bob) LaChance, Bob’s wife (Carin) Newman, Kathy Lundy, and sons Brad Erickson, Steven (Stephanie) Newman, and Brian (Angie) Erickson. Grandchildren Troy (Debbie) LaChance, Lisa (Tyler) Munson, Chris LaChance, Lindsay Jones, Jessica Newman-Clawson, Angie Blackburn, Stephen (Deanna) Lundy, Alison (Kent) Bradshaw, MacKenzie (Ed) Anderson, Hailee (Seth) Newman, Daniel Newman, Tierney (Mark) Triolo, Tony (Viviana) Erickson, Tiffany (Chris) Whala, Todd (Lara) Erickson, Troy (Bridget) Erickson and many, many great and great-great grandchildren.
