Edna Pearl Grace Nielsen, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2024, at the age of 88. Edna was born in Lehi, Utah to James David William Grace and Mary Louise (Greenland) Grace in the home that her father built.

She grew up in Lehi, and she was very proud of her heritage. She loved telling people that she lived on the same street for her whole life, and it was known as Graceville. She loved spending time with family.  She married Jay Nielsen on June 18, 1953 in Lehi, Utah, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 2, 1972. They raised five children, Louise, Willie, LaRayne, Rachel, and Joseph. Edna worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked at Pykettes Clothing Factory in Lehi. After she quit Pykettes, she was a stay-at-home mom, and in addition, she watched young children in her home for many years. She always spoke of the children she watched as if they were her own, and they loved her so much that they called her their "other mom." Edna started working as a lunchroom worker for Alpine School District in the mid 1980's. She loved working in the lunchroom with the other ladies, and she was always looking out for kids who may have forgotten their lunch money or needed a little extra food. She retired from working as a lunchroom worker in 2002 when she had a brain tumor removed. From 2002 until 2014, she helped raise and watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They too would call her "Mother" or "Mom" instead of Grandma.

Edna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she held many callings in the church. She and Jay helped with and planned and organized the Old Folk's Party for Lehi's senior citizens for many years. She also served as the Primary Secretary for years, and she was the stake and ward librarian for the Lehi West Stake and Lehi Third Ward for over thirty years.

Edna loved animals and spending time outdoors, especially up in the mountains. If anyone ever asked her if she wanted to go for a ride up the canyon, she wouldn't turn them down. She enjoyed watching western television shows, musicals, and reading. Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Jay, her parents, and her siblings (James, Elaine, and Leland). She is survived by her five children, Louise (Lee), Willie (Lynette), LaRayne, Rachel (Victor), and Joseph (Maren). She has 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. and then on Friday, Sept. 20 from 10 A.M.-12 P.M. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street, Lehi. A graveside service will be held immediately following the viewing on Friday, in the Lehi City Cemetery.
