Eldon Leroy Fletcher 88 passed away June 16th, 2025 in Lehi Utah.
He was born on July 11, 1936 to Richard Leroy and Ruth Davis Fletcher in Salt Lake City, Utah. Eldon served for a couple of years in the Naval Reserve.
He married Janet Wiegel in the Salt Lake Temple on November 23, 1960.
Eldon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including a 2-year full time mission to the Western States mission in the US. He also served in many capacities in his local ward and stake as Bishop (twice) & Stake Presidency. His favorite calling was with the 'Blazer' scouts (10/11 yr old boys). He also served with Jan in Winter Quarters Nebraska as the director of the visitor's center.
He grew up camping, hiking, river running and almost anything you could do outdoors. Later in life he even took up rock climbing, snowmobiling and ice hockey. Many of these things he did with his younger brother Gordon and then shared with his wife, children and grandchildren. He hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in a single day 7 times and ran the St George marathon 4 times
Eldon never worked for anyone but himself. He ran a printing business, AAA Direct Mail and then a tuxedo rental company, Tuxedo Junction. He did all these business ventures with his younger brother, Gordon, as his partner. Eldon and Jan spent lots of time traveling and enjoying their lives together but their biggest passion was their family. Their family meant the world to them and they were very proud of all that their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have accomplished.
Eldon was preceded in death by his wife (Jan), his parents (Leroy & Ruth) and his older sister (Maxine). Eldon is survived by his brother, Gordon. Children: Valerie (Ken) Sorensen, Mike (Cheryl) Fletcher, Fran (Carl) Hollingsworth, and Nancy (Bruce) Mackay, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
