Elizabeth Blake Shelton, age 70, died on October 28, 2023 in Sandy, Utah. She was born on July 9, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Grant and Ruby Magleby Blake. She married Robert Harry Shelton on April 24, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple.


She attended Highland High School and actively participated in pep club. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from the University of Utah in 1975, where she was a member of Lambda Delta Sigma and served as President of the Student Education Association. She graduated with a Master of Education, Curriculum, and Instruction from Brigham Young University in 1982. She began her teaching career in 1975 and retired in 2023. She was a devoted English teacher and mentor to many students over the years at Kearns High, Granite High, Skyline High and Valley Junior High Schools.


She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints and faithfully served in numerous callings over the years. She dedicated many wonderful hours to quilting and crocheting blankets for her loved ones. She enjoyed studying and teaching the plays of William Shakespeare and loved attending the Utah Shakespeare Festival with her children and friends each year. She had an insatiable passion for reading and was a member of local book clubs where she enjoyed sweet associations with many dear friends and neighbors.


She is survived by her beloved children, Jason Blake (Kimberley); Carol Lee; Christie Lynn Thompson (Joel); Emily Beth Nielsen (Greg); daughter-in-law, Shayla and 16 grandchildren; brother, David (Judy) and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Jeffrey Robert; brother John, sister Ann and her parents.


Funeral services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Falcon Hill Ward Chapel, 2126 Gyrfalcon Drive (10000 South), Sandy, Utah. Family and friends may attend her viewing on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah and on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
