Evelyn Bea Wilcock Yates, age 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of Feb. 9, 2023. Evelyn was born April 7, 1934 to Glen Orton Wilcock and Vina Moore Wilcock. She grew up in Spry, Utah, (near Panguitch) on a small farm. She was the oldest of 5 siblings and learned the joy of hard work at an early age. She moved to Spring Lake, Utah to live with her grandmother, along with siblings, at the age of 11 and attended Payson Junior High. She then moved with her family to Lehi, Utah at the age of 14, where she would remain the rest of her life. All 3 of these cities remained near and dear to her heart and she had many fond stories to tell about each location with friends and family. As of late, she helped the Lehi Historical Society and Archives with many different tasks, which brought her great joy.

Evelyn was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Relief Society President and Primary President. She loved singing in the choir and had a beautiful voice. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) and participated in many activities and often took family with her to special dinners. She was extremely proud to be a great-great-granddaughter of Brigham Young.

She married Dwane Yates in April 1951 (later divorced) and together they had 6 children. She loved each of her children, unconditionally, and supported them in any way she could. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren also benefited greatly from her continued love for each of them. Her greatest accomplishments and joys were her family.

She was employed, and later retired, by Lehi City as City Recorder and loved her job and those she worked with. Many city residents knew her, and she knew almost everything about them, and the happenings of Lehi. In 2015 she was recognized as one of the city's most valued citizens and this made her very proud.

She is survived by 5 of her children, Doug (Rita) Yates, Robert (Darcee) Yates, Scott Yates, Craig (Breno) Yates, Suzanne (Roger) Lozano. 24 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Rose (Rex) Goodwin, Joan (Gary) Gurney and sister-in-law Linda (Marvin) Wilcock. Everyone that met her said she was the easiest person to love, and no one knew this better than her family. The family matriarch being gone will leave a huge hole and will be felt by everyone. She was the most Christlike person ever known and a great example to everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents Glen and Vina, brothers Marvin and Ronald Glen, brother-in-laws Rex and Gary, and son Kelly Lane Yates.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18th at 11 am. A viewing will be held that same morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Both will take place at the Lehi 12th Ward LDS church, located at 1149 North 300 West, Lehi. Interment following the services in the Lehi Cemetery.

Her family would like to thank Stonehenge of American Fork for their love and caring for the last several weeks. Although she didn't like being away from her beloved home, she thought everyone treated her with kindness and respect.
