Frank DeWayne Sorensen of Lehi was reunited with his forever love on July 14, 2024. He passed from natural causes after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family. DeWayne was born August 27, 1947 in American Fork, Utah to Frank Wesley and Mary Bertha Bates Sorensen. DeWayne grew up in Orem and attended Orem High School.

DeWayne met his wife and eternal companion Joyce Violet Jensen Sorensen at a roller skating rink. They were married in Cottonwood Heights on March 4, 1967.  Their marriage was  solemnized on September 30, 1970  in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints.

They made their first home in Orem. They moved to Lehi in 1974 where they worked and raised their family. DeWayne loved living in Lehi and spent many years serving on the Lehi Rodeo Committee.

As a young man he worked on a Dairy Farm. He spent many years working in the construction industry where he learned many valuable trades and fine tuned some of his natural talents. He retired from Lehi City where he worked in many different capacities, his favorite was his final position as the Parks Superintendent. He loved building parks from the initial design to the final product. He spent his retirement spending time with family, traveling, gardening and woodworking.

DeWayne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many capacities and callings. He learned his love of gardening from his mom and found joy in sharing his harvest with others. His dad taught him how to mechanic.  He loved to woodwork and was very talented. He spent many hours in his shop designing and building beautiful creations which he gave to family and friends.

DeWayne loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time making cherished memories with family and friends. He liked to camp, Dutch oven cook, 4-wheel, fish and hunt just about anything his favorite being pheasant and deer. He spent many hours training his own pheasant hunting dogs and his horses.  He loved to collect guns and knives.

He loved to have fun, laugh and spend time with family. He was always up for a good water fight, game of hide and go seek or bingo.  He spent many hours planning family reunions and parties and happily opened up his home and yard.  So many loved ones have special memories of his BBQ burgers, homemade root beer and homemade ice cream.

DeWayne was generous, he would give you his shirt off of his back, his last dollar if you needed it or drop everything to help you. His family meant the world to him and truly are what he lived for. He loved making holidays special, especially Christmas. He was the best and will be missed by all that loved him.

He is survived by his children Scott (Debra) Sorensen, Angela (Jacob) Smith, Cheriee (Jason) Brixey, grandchildren: Kelton (Camryn), Jaycee, Quinn (Maecy), Emma (Wil), Cooper, Cody, Courtni (Cayden), DeJay, Jaxen, Kacey, Callee, Ashlee, Hailee & Chasen, great grandchildren Charli & Jami; his sister Bertha (Elliott) Weiss and many other family and friends that he loved dearly.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Wesley & LeMond, sisters Mary Ellen Sorensen, Pauline Frank, Joan Newman and Freda Larsen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20 at 11 am, Lehi 2nd Ward Chapel 481 E 300 N, Lehi.  A viewing will be held at 10 am prior to the funeral and Friday, July 19, 2024 from 7 pm - 9 pm at Wing Mortuary 118 E Main Street, Lehi.  Interment in the Lehi City Cemetery.
