Fred Clair Jepson was born on October 3, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jesse Clair and Lila Jepson. He was the second oldest of five children, and his life was deeply shaped by the love and strength of his family.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Monte and Alice Laura.  He is survived by his wife, Judy Dean Jepson, sons Christopher Jepson, James Jepson, Corey Jepson, and daughter Nicole Chazen, their spouses, 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. As well as his brother Brent and sister Pauline. Each a part of the legacy of love & fun he leaves behind.

Fred passed away peacefully on a beautiful Sunday morning, on April 27th at 9:38am in his home in Saratoga Springs, Utah. In his final hours, he was surrounded by love and comfort. Music he cherished filled the room, and as his favorite hymn, How Great Thou Art, played, Fred opened his eyes one last time. With tears in his eyes, he saw his wife & children by his side and with peace in his heart, he gently passed through the veil.

Friends will forever remember Fred for joking with others, always trying to make people laugh. He is known for his loud (sometimes off-key on purpose) singing, explosive sneezes, famous siren and telling stories from his childhood.

He could do perfect Elvis and Big Bopper impressions. He was amazing at dancing the limbo and he once won the "swallowing the most live goldfish" contest (maybe this is why he loved sushi).  He loved gardening and had an amazing green thumb. He took great care of his beloved peonies for as long as we can remember. He loved traveling the world, taking long drives to nowhere, and especially being with his family.

He went out of his way to befriend all of his kids' friends to make them feel loved and welcome. With that came a lot of teasing and playful energy that always brought cheer and delight to everyone who visited our home.

Fred served honorably as a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States Mission from 1965-1967. As a missionary, he touched many converts and members with his fun sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh.  Fred loved ice cream and often visited Bridgeman's Ice Cream in Minnesota.  Their largest sundae included 8 scoops of ice cream covered in various fruit and toppings.  Customers who could eat the entire bowl received a button that said: "I ate a La La Palooza".  Fred held the Mission record by collecting 34 buttons.  On one occasion he collected 2 buttons at the same time.

Fred worked for Western/Delta Airlines for 40 Years. Because of this, he cultivated a love for travel with his wife, children, grandchildren & generations to come. Because of the hard labor of his many jobs at the airline, it took a toll on his body making travel & daily mobility more difficult his last few years.  This decline was heartbreaking for his family to witness.

Despite the hardship towards the end of his life, he was able to finish with a positive attitude, jokes, songs and a great light and joy about him that will be remembered forever.
