Obituary

Frederick Allen Cox, 93, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at his home in Lehi, UT. His daughter, Deborah, was at his side as he rejoined his sweetheart, Ruth, whom he has missed every day for the last 13 years.

Fred was born on March 10, 1931, in Payson UT, the second son of Alton Wintch and Ruth Allen Cox.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

As a young man, he enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving on the USS Fulton. He was honorably discharged on August 20, 1951.

Fred married Ruth Erma Jacklin on May 24, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they raised four children; Cynthia, Phillip, Deborah and David in their little house on the corner.

Fred spent much of his life in the cab of an 18-wheeler, driving for a number of different companies. He also owned and operated his own truck, a cabover Peterbuilt affectionately known to the family as "Big Red." As a driver, Fred was highly regarded for his skills and had the reputation of being honest and trustworthy. He retired from Hadco Construction, with the nickname of Fast Freddie, in 2001 at the age of 70.

Fred is survived by his two sons and one daughter; Philip Cox, David Cox, and Deborah White; 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; His sister, Edith and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Cynthia; his brother, Rulon ; and his sisters, LaRee, Faye and Jean.

The family would like to thank Britanie Church and Roy Chinchilla of Voleo Home Health Care for their kind and considerate care of Fred during his final days.

We would also like to give special recognition to Fred's neighbors-Josh and Pam Bowers, and Stewart and Viki Wilson as well as his longtime friend Sam Witcherly for their much appreciated help in Fred's behalf.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11 AM at the Wines Park Ward, 481 East 300 North; Lehi, Utah. A visitation will be held from 10-10:45 before hand. Internment will be at Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, 1000 N 400 East; Orem, Utah
