George Blair Murri, 76, passed away in Murray, Utah on November 3, 2020. He was born April 19, 1944 in Pocatello, Idaho to Anna H. Johnson and William Fred Murri, the fourth of five children. Blair grew up in Pocatello with friends and cousins, and had many adventures with them. He loved to make friends and help everyone he met feel better about themselves. Many people he met for the first time were convinced they knew him, deciding instead he must be some "famous race car driver" or someone else. Little children in parking lots and at church would wave and smile to him. He loved all sports, especially fishing and basketball.

In school, Blair served as the junior high student body president, loved math and science, and was on the honor roll. He attended Idaho State University and later completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Utah in Economics with a minor in Spanish.

Blair was a faithful, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served as a missionary in the West Spanish American Mission (California and Arizona), speaking Spanish.  He loved the people he served there. He served in many other callings throughout his life including in Young Mens, in four bishoprics, on the high council, as a bishop, and most recently as a stake patriarch.  Blair and his wife also served multiple Church Service missions in Texas and Utah.  Serving together on a temple mission in Guatemala City was a highlight.  Blair loved the people every place he served and they loved him too. Blair was compassionate to everyone he met and loved them for who they are.  He knew how to bring out the best in them. He lived a life of service. He was quick to laugh and even quicker to forgive. He taught all of his family about the love of God and the importance of following Jesus Christ.

Following his mission in California, Blair met a "cute, little Mexican girl" on a blind date, fell in love, and married in the Idaho Falls temple on June 3, 1966.  Blair and Joan raised four boys and one girl.  They started out in Pocatello, moved to Salt Lake's Sugarhouse area, later to Holladay, and then to Sandy for 25 years.  They later lived in Houston for eight years and finally settled in Eagle Mountain after retirement.

Blair worked at many things: running his own dry cleaners, installing insulation, and working at a bank. He finally worked for many years as an industrial and mining cable sales manager. He traveled to Peru, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Colombia, Angola, Canada and all over the Western United States and Alaska for work. He was also able to visit Indonesia, Russia, Germany and Switzerland, the home of his ancestors.

Blair is survived by his wife, Joan, children Blair (Marcela) of Seattle, Washington, Ric (Marcie) of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Marc (Amy) of Taipei, Taiwan, Natalie (Derek) of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Ryan (Andrea) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, 24 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, a sister, nieces and nephews, and many relatives and others whom he welcomed into his home. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill.

A viewing will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 from 6-8:00 PM at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah. Private family service will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

All of his descendants know him well and know personally that he loves them.

They know that one day they can be together with him again.
