Geraldine Wanlass Michaelis
April 28, 1937-October 10, 2026
Geri Michaelis of Lehi, Utah passed away in her home on Saturday, October 10th. She was born in Richmond, California and raised in Rodeo, California. She loved growing up in the Bay Area. Her favorite things to do in her youth were playing sports and spending time outdoors.
After high school, she attended Brigham Young University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. After college, Geri taught PE at Fall River Mills High School in Fall River Mills, California.
During the summer of 1958 before her senior year at BYU, she met Clint Michaelis in Santa Maria, California. The year after they graduated from college, they were married in the Los Angeles Temple on August 20, 1960. Clint’s career took them to Washington, Indiana, Alabama, and California. It was in Dothan, Alabama where Geri and Clint spent 12 years raising their four children. Geri enjoyed developing lifelong friendships there, serving in her church, and supporting her busy children. Geri and Clint retired in 1995 where they first lived in Volcano, California, then in Las Vegas, Nevada, and finally in Lehi, Utah. Geri enjoyed visits from family, traveling with Clint, and serving in the temple. She and Clint also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while they lived in Las Vegas.
Geri and Clint have four children, Jeff(Betsy), Stacy(Rick), Lee(Kathie), and Dan(Patty). They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Geri was preceded in death by Clint, her parents, Ruel Lee Wanlass and Geneva Sarah Shoell, her sister Margene(Hack), and her sister Dorothy and husband Dean.
Geri was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and devoted wife, sister, mother and grandma. She loved her family and was most happy when spending time with children and grandchildren. She was a fierce fan of BYU football and spent her very last evening with her family, watching the Cougars win. Her family will miss her but take comfort in the peace of Geri’s reunion with Clint.
