Glen Lovell Nielsen
1930 – 2024

Glen Lovell Nielsen fully enjoyed life until he took his last breath on November 21, 2024, at age 93. He was born December 2, 1930, in Provo, Utah. Glen was the youngest son of Heber Lovell and Sylvia Ann Hansen Nielsen. He is now reunited with his beautiful wife, Connie Jeanne Kirkham Nielsen. Our family loves to imagine the joy in their reunion. With his passing, he joins siblings Elna Nielsen May, Grant Nielsen and Nina Nielsen Schumann.

In his last moments at home, after thanking his youngest daughter Emily for her loving care, his heart failed due to pulmonary fibrosis.

Glen is the proud father of Bruce (Sonja Olsen), Sandy (David Dixon), Julie (Bruce Rafiner), Bill, and Emily (Kent Oyler). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Megan, Alexis, Landon, Celeste, Alexandria, Heather, Benjamin, Brandon, Brittany, Eden and Michael, his 17 loving great-grandchildren with two more soon to be born.

Glen attended school in American Fork, Utah and Rockland, Idaho. He graduated from American Fork High School in 1948, and attended classes at Utah Technical College, BYU and Barbering College.

As a youth, he ran the projector at the Royal Theater, worked at service stations, and was a car salesman before being drafted during the Korean War. He proudly and humbly served from 1953-1955. He was part of the 38th Infantry Battalion and the 5th AAA Anti-Aircraft Battalion, and was stationed in Camp Roberts, California and in Germany.

He swept his dear Connie off her feet at a dance, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 14, 1957. They raised their family at their home on Main Street in Lehi.

Glen opened his barber shop in 1958, and developed many lasting friendships while serving the community. He loved the conversations he had while cutting hair and made many friends with his loving heart and gentle nature. He was an entrepreneur and was successful in several businesses before returning to barbering before retirement.

He was a member of the Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, the American Legion, and the Sons of Utah Pioneers.

Glen and Connie enjoyed BYU football and basketball and held season tickets to both for 40 years. In later years, he and Connie enjoyed watching BYU men and women's athletics on television. He loved bike riding and skiing and went skiing with his children and grandchildren often.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and served willingly as a high councilor and was in the Lehi 6th Ward Bishopric. Many lifelong friendships were made in the 6th Ward. He was a diligent home teacher and made lifelong friends while serving others.

Glen loved people and made friends easily. He was known for being happy, kind, generous and loving. He made the world a better place and may we all strive to live as he did.

He would love you to honor his memory by doing something for those less fortunate than you, especially during the holidays.

A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, December 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main St. in Lehi. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 2, at the Lehi 6th Ward church, 220 West 200 South in Lehi, with a viewing one-hour prior to the funeral.  Glen will receive military honors, and his interment will be at Lehi City Cemetery.
