Gwen Rodeback Smith

Gwen Rodeback Smith (85) passed away peacefully at home in Payson, Utah surrounded by family on August 17, 2026. 

She was born in Vernal, Utah to Noah and Hannah Rodeback on June 2, 1941. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters to share the daily chores with on the farm. She graduated from Uintah High School in 1959 and left the Basin for the big time. She attended cosmetology school in Salt Lake City, where new friends introduced her to the love of her life. She married Verl LeRoy Smith on May 5, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and soon started their family.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions in the Relief Society and Primary.

She worked with her husband in the family business, Fashion Dry Cleaners, for most of her adult life. She was constantly busy in her free time with her family and sewing, quilting, knitting, and flowers.

She is survived by 4 children, Barbara (Robert) Nicholes, Darrell LeRoy (Janet) Smith, Michelle (Wayne) Hansen, and Daniel Verl Smith; 12 grandchildren; 25 1/2 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her brother Charles Rodeback; and many beloved family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Wing Mortuary Chapel located at 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will precede the funeral service at the mortuary from 10:00-10:45AM. Interment will take place in the Lehi City Cemetery.
