Hailee Marie
York
May 22, 2000 — Oct 15, 2021
Hailee Marie York was born in Sandy, Utah to Aaron and Marie York, on May 22, 2000. She passed away on Friday, October 15 th , 2021 after a tragic car accident. She was 21 years old.
Hailee was a loving and dedicated member of our family. She was a peacemaker from a very young age, and always tried to be kind and thoughtful. She wanted everyone to be happy and get along, and tried to make sure each member of her family and friend groups were included and loved. She was a caring daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin and friend. She was smart, witty, talented, and fun-loving.
Hailee looked up to Sabrina, and loved to take on any challenge that her older sister was doing. She was persistent, competitive, and loved to succeed. She enjoyed sports, and participated in swimming (by force), cross-country, track and field, and soccer. She developed her wonderful musical talents playing piano and singing in choirs, and often sang in solo or small group performances.
She was involved in her church's youth programs and served as a youth leader in her wards and stakes. She worked diligently to receive her Young Woman's Medallion showing consistent, hard effort and a love of the Savior. Many youth have felt Hailee's Christ-like love as she may have literally pulled them into the activity and made sure they were involved and having a good time.
After her junior year of High School, Hailee tested very high on her college entrance exams and decided to forgo her senior year to move on to Brigham Young University. She enjoyed working at Waffle Love during this time and formed many new friendships there. She had finished three years of her college undergraduate degree and had just three remaining semesters before graduation.
She served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Young Women Class Presidencies, Bishop's Youth Councils, Stake Youth Councils, Seminary Council, Relief Society President in a BYU student ward and others.
Hailee loved adventure - road trips with friends, camping trips, backpacking, cliff-jumping, kayaking, hiking, or whatever else came up. She would take on any physical challenge her dad thought he wanted to try. She figured if he could do it, so could she, and she did.
She formed a group of friends at BYU that were second to none. She has left many of these dear friends behind who feel her loss deeply. Hailee passed from this life with one of her best friends, Ashlyn Hanzon, another beautiful angel who will be terribly missed by her family and all of us who had the opportunity and blessing to know her. We know they are together with other departed family and friends.
Hailee is survived by her beloved family: her parents, Marie and Aaron York; her sisters, Sabrina (Quenton) Hale, Rachel, Katherine, and Lila; and her favorite brother, Mike. She is also survived by her grandparents, Dale and Phyllis Kenison and Bruce and Jan York, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her uncle Andy York & her cousin Michael Houser.
