Helen Frances
Gilbert Hunsaker
Nov 24, 1938 — Feb 6, 2024
Helen Frances Gilbert Hunsaker passed away on February 6, 2024, in Lehi, Utah. Frances was the oldest daughter of James Austin Gilbert and Madie Mair Gilbert born November 24, 1938, in Park City, Utah. She was the beloved wife and partner of Grant Kay Hunsaker for 66 years, who will miss her dearly. Frances was the mother of four sons and their wives, the grandmother of 17 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 27 grandkids. She loved her family and leaves a legacy of kindness and love.
Frances was known for being kind and gentle, strong and intelligent. She was a manager for Zions Banks for over 25 years. Throughout this time, she developed strong and lasting relationships with those that worked for her and with her and was highly regarded for being fair and honest. She also held numerous church positions, including serving an LDS Service mission with Grant. She loved the different opportunities and served with gratitude and grace.
Frances' greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren. She would spend hours patiently creating crafts, playing games, reading books, and doing puzzles. She supported and loved them through numerous activities including school concerts, Delta camping trips, baseball games, and whatever else they participated in. Her Christmas "kid-present" exchange of treats and gift -cards were always the highlight of Christmas day, a tradition she kept up for many years.
Frances deeply loved her sons and their wives. She raised four strong and good men, who have shown and given the same love and devotion to their families as she demonstrated throughout her life. However, she was very grateful to finally have Keri, DaraLyn and Karrin as back-up support to the years of raising just boys.
Frances's most cherished love and commitment was to her husband Grant. Meeting in high school, they were married November 21, 1956. She cared for him, supported him, and loved him wherever their journey took them. They were rarely apart, especially in the later years.
Frances is survived by her husband Grant, her children Jeff (Keri), Gordan (Karrin), and Tim (DaraLyn), 17 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters and two brothers. Susan Christenson (Frank), Virginia Daniels (Dennis), Alex Gilbert (Diane), and Jimmy Gilbert (Donna). She was preceded in death by her parents James and Madie Gilbert, her stepfather Robert Ford, her son Grant Kay Hunsaker Jr., five brothers, Duane Gilbert, Rhoton Gilbert, Billie Gilbert, Dean Gilbert, and Jack Gilbert.
The family would like to thank the staff at Covington Lehi Memory Care and Renew Hospice and Health for their excellent care and compassion.
