Helen returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 22, 2021 after a long and faithful life. Helen was born January 19, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Arthur Jackson and Elizabeth Maria den Hartog Burdett. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lester, her parents, her brothers Arthur and Blaine, and her sister Marie Compton. Her brother Bob (Lois) survives her.
In 1932, her father's work transferred him to the San Francisco, CA office of the Southern Pacific Railroad. The family moved to the Bay Area where she went to school and trained as a Bookkeeper. From 1947 – 1949 she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the East Central States Mission – Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Helen was actively engaged in her faith all her life and served in many positions – most cherished was working with the Primary children.
Helen married Lester Burton Hanson on August 2, 1950 in Logan Utah Temple the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, following Lester's graduation from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Engineering Physics. After about a year, they moved to Philadelphia, PA. A few years later they bought their first home, in Lower Bucks County, where they raised their four boys: Ray (Kathleen), Kent (Elaine), Tom (Chris), and Jim (Lisa). Helen has 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, with 2 more expected this year.
Helen and Lester moved to Red Lion, PA in 1985, and then to Lehi, Utah in 2006. Lester passed away January 30, 2012. Helen moved to Sandy, Utah in 2014, and then to Draper, Utah in 2020.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care provided to Helen by the staff of BeeHive Homes of Draper and Lighten Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 26 th at 1:00 pm at the Lehi 4 th Ward Meeting house located at 851 North 1200 East, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah, and an hour prior to services Friday afternoon. Interment will follow at Lehi City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
