Howard Ray Wagstaff passed away on April 2nd, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was born May 15, 1939 to Cecil Wagstaff and Katherine Sonntag Wagstaff and raised in the Provo and Orem area. From an early age he showed interests for all creatures large and small. His mother once remarked she feared cleaning his pants pockets due to finding his collections of worms, grasshoppers, and other insects. He attended Lincoln Jr High and Orem High School. Later, he obtained a BS degree in Psychology from Weber State University and a MS degree in Physiological Psychology from Brigham Young University.

He met his sweetheart, Claudia Densley, at an LDS symposium dance and after an extended courtship they married, with the marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake temple. The couple were blessed with six joyful children.

Howard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. He served an LDS mission to the North Central States and held varied church callings, including Sunday school instructor, stake young men's president, counselor in the Elder's Quorum, High Priest Group Leader. He serviced a service mission at the Provo MTC and also was a temple ordinance worker at the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

He served with the Boy Scouts of America for over fifty years and held positions in scouting at the ward and district levels, as well as with the Utah National Park's Council. From scouting experiences he developed a fondness for Native American cultures and for the out-of-doors, particularly fly fishing; and was the recipient of the Vigil Honor Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver Award, Utah National Parks.

He was employed at the State Development Center as a psychologist, becoming assistant head of the psychology department. He transferred to the State Hospital, Children's Unit, functioning as associate psychologist and program specialist. Additionally, he held the position of instructor at Brigham Young Continuing Education for thirty years. After retirement he established a private practice serving emotionally behaviorally distressed children and youth.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudia Densley Wagstaff; children: Brett Wagstaff (Shanna), Heather Shaw (Shane), Holly Olson (Ben), Heidi Carlson (Shawn), Hayley Pollock (Bill), Darcy Sellers (Randy), 22 grandchildren, 2 great-grand children with two more on the way; sisters Carolyn Yeager and Joan Richards, and brother Mark Wagstaff. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Brent Wagstaff.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Lehi East Bench Chapel, 1631 East 900 North.  Family and friends may call on Friday evening at the chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning.  Interment, Lehi City Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East.
