Our dear mother and grandmother, Ila Udine Wing Tomlinson, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 13, 2024 at age 95. She was blessed to live comfortably in her own home right up until her passing.

Ila was born on November 10,1928 in Lehi, Utah, to Alva H. and Dorothy Udine Wing. She was the oldest daughter of 5 children, with one older brother and 3 younger sisters.

Ila attended schools in Lehi, graduating from LDS Seminary and Lehi High School in June, 1947, and she then attended BYU and found work at the telephone company and Laney's Department Store.

It wasn't long until she met the love of her life, Gene Tomlinson. They dated for a short time and then they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1952.

Ila and Gene were blessed with five children, all sons. They made their home in Pleasant Grove. Gene worked at Geneva Steel, and both of them worked on the family fruit farm and also worked together at raising their children. Ila was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served valiantly in many callings throughout her life. She had a deep love for our Savior, Jesus Christ, which showed in her daily actions and interactions with family, friends and any acquaintance she met.

Ila loved to play games and even in her senior years, she kept her mind active with jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. She especially loved to play card games with her sisters, children and grandchildren. Her talents included musical abilities–singing and playing the piano and organ. Over the years, she used her talents to give service by accompanying many choirs and congregations.

Ila is survived by her children, Eldon, Gary (Telva), Randy (LeeAnn), Rick (Jane); 10 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren; her beloved sisters Lois Littleford and Rita (Ken) Greenwood and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her son Brian, her parents, her sister Joyce Forsythe, and her brother Alva Ralph Wing.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 828 South Locust Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday prior to the services from 10 to 10:45 am. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
