Irvin Kent Jacobsen passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones. Kent was born May 20, 1948 in Salina, UT to Eva Evelyn Sorenson and Irvin Lewis Jacobsen. He was the youngest of 3, following his older brother Max and sister Carol Ann. He attended school locally in Salina graduating in 1966. He served an LDS mission in Sweden. Attended Brigham Young University graduating with a dual major in Education and Spanish.

Kent married Carolyn Marie Seaver in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1974. They have 5 children: Adrienne Worthy, Tamarac FL; Tatiana (Jonathan) Biesinger, Lehi, UT; Christian Richard (Kelli) Jacobsen, Hualien, Taiwan; Meagan Elizabeth (Santiago) Gallegos, Albuquerque, NM; Dmitri Alexander Jacobsen, Phoenix, AZ. Kent and Carolyn have nine grandchildren; Kaia Monet Worthy, Kiersten Maren Worthy, Makayla Marie Biesinger, Hannah Elizabeth (Ethen) Beavers, Ellie Caroline Biesinger, Elijah Christian Jacobsen, Josephine Marie Jacobsen, Rogan McLean Jacobsen, and Noah Zion Godwin.

Kent loved education, cooking, plants, animals and the arts. He and Carolyn have two exchange student sons: Kjartan Haugen, Oslo, Norway; and, Nurbek Darvishev, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Education was a huge part of his life, teaching and innovative techniques were things he was known for amongst his peers. He loved having family dinners where he would try to mimic foods he had tried, and his family would often say things always tasted better when dad cooked them. No matter where Kent lived the yard would evolve to a Garden of Eden as he cared meticulously for his beloved plants. He loved animals and would bring them home often to the astonishment of his family; from a duck as a child, to 300+ birds, to dogs, and even dreaming of caring for goats in his last days. He was an artist through and through; painting, sculpting, writing music, playing the guitar and piano, drawing, singing, and even directing plays.

Kent's passion for travel took him all over the world. He lived in Sweden, Mexico, Norway, Russia, and the US. He traveled across the United States as well as Korea, Jerusalem, Denmark, and many others.

Kent taught school in Utah, Arizona, and New York; ranging from 1st grade to college. He always claimed first grade was his favorite because that's where the basic building blocks of learning were instilled. He faithfully served as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints. He is a son, brother, husband, father, papa, teacher, church leader, friend and confidant. Kent was respected, loved and cherished around the world.  Kent leaves in mortality his immediate family and his fervent testimony of the divinity and mission of Jesus Christ.
