Jacqueline Johnson Cowan
1949–2025
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Jacqueline Johnson Cowan, 76, passed away on November 8, 2025, at American Fork Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Jackie was born March 10, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Hyrum Cecil Johnson of Ririe, Idaho, and Bertha Matilda Call Johnson of Rigby, Idaho. They were thrilled to welcome their second daughter, Jackie, who grew up with a foundation of faith and service that carried her throughout her life.
She cherished her childhood in Ririe, where she rode in the fuel truck with her dad, fished with her grandma, spent hours on horseback, and ran through the fields with her loyal German Shepherd. In high school she was active and spirited, participating in the drill team, cheer squad, and FHA club. After graduating from Ririe High School, she attended Ricks College, beauty school, and later took classes at the University of Maryland. Above all, she devoted her life to her family and friends.
On January 10, 1969, Jackie married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Le Roy Frank Cowan, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They shared 56 years of marriage and built a strong, loving family together. She was deeply proud of her six sons.
Jackie was known for her tender heart and her eagerness to help wherever help was needed. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings and offered her time and compassion freely.
She is survived by her sweetheart, Frank; her five sons, Jason (Natalie), Bradley (Sabrina), Scott (Jillynn), Nathan (Kristina), and Troy (Becky); her 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and her dog, Tank, who she called her "seventh son".
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Cheryl Olson, and her son, Kirk Frank Cowan.
All services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 11162 North Alpine Highway, Highland, UT 84003. A viewing will take place Friday, November 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday, November 15, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM.
Jackie will be laid to rest at the Lehi Cemetery in Lehi, Utah, beside her son, Kirk.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Jackie's name directly to Wing Mortuary, or to the family via Venmo at https://venmo.com/u/Nate-Cowan-4 (last four digits 0531). Thank you.
