James Edwin Hutchings, age 69 passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, 16 April 2025.  Jim was born in the American Fork Hospital on May 2, 1955. He was the fifth child and second son of Harold and Marie Hutchings. Jim grew up in Lehi as a rambunctious child who early in life showed a love for dogs and a curiosity of how things worked. He always wanted to take things apart and try to put them back together.  He became an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow.. He learned to appreciate the outdoors from his Father and Grandfather as they made regular family excursions into the desert and mountains in search of unique minerals and wildlife, learning their names and characteristics. Jim loved hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Jim graduated from Lehi High School. After graduation Jim began work as a concrete truck driver.  He loved big trucks and heavy machinery and spent his working life driving and working with them. He was happiest when he was working on his own vehicle, or helping a friend get his car or truck up and running. Jim was a natural born mechanic and could talk your ear off about his latest fix it job. He was always willing to share his talent with family or friends. He enjoyed collecting things that struck his curiosity, and he loved raising Chihuahuas.

Jim had two children in his first marriage, Donald and Amber Hutchings. He later married his devoted wife of 20 years, Karla Park .

Jim leaves behind his wife Karla, daughter Amber, sisters Galynn Donovan, Kathleen (Alan) Pace, Esther (Kent) Sumsion, Brooke Hutchings (Donald), five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 14 nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Donald, two brothers, William Hutchings, Bret Hutchings, and his father and mother Harold and Marie Hutchings.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 2-4pm at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah.
