Obituary

James (Jimmy) Dean Powell passed away November 3, 2025, at 6pm. A long life resident of Pleasant Grove, Utah. Jimmy had a passion for life, loved people, loved to travel, collecting cards, and collecting stuffed bears. He was born in Lehi in the old Lehi Hospital to Dean and Eda Powell on August 6th, 1949, who preceded him in death.

Eda devoted her life to Jimmy's care and sums up his life as a miracle. Jimmy wasn't supposed to even live. When Jimmy was just 6 days old he threw up and choked on it. He was blue when he was discovered and rushed to the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City where he was only given a 50% chance of survival. Jimmy broke the odds and Eda testified that Jimmy was to live because God wanted him to. Eda dedicated her life to Jimmy's care. Ensuring that he got to live his life to the fullest.

Jimmy was not expected to be able to walk or talk. He once again broke those odds. Walking took Jimmy more time to achieve, but he achieved it at 8 years old. The doctors were so impressed with Jimmys progress that he was only in crutches for a few months before he was walking on his own.

Jimmy is survived by his 4 sisters Kathy Hansen, Kristy Jarvis, Kelly Pruitt, and Kerry Albano. There will be a graveside memorial at the Lehi Cemetery on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2pm. Lunch will be served afterwards.
