Janiece
Francom
Apr 8, 1960 — Oct 18, 2022
Jan Francom passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022, with her two precious dogs, Red Dawg and Libby, nestled by her side. She was 62. Jan was born in Lehi, Utah, on April 8, 1960, to Carl LuRay and Iola Francom. She was a happy, playful, fun-loving child. She graduated from Lehi High School in 1978, participating in girls athletics—track, softball and tennis. She had a fantastic sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and was cracking jokes up to the end.
During her life, she lived in Lehi, Sandy, Utah and Maui, Hawaii. Her most precious possessions were her many beloved dogs, wonderful friends and loving family members.
She worked as a purchasing agent for 23 years at the Utah Department of Corrections, Stein Ericson Lodge in Deer Valley, and Kula Hospital in Hawaii.
Jan loved the outdoors. She was an avid outdoorswoman, but her favorite activity was fishing. She was ready to catch trout in any body of water; Deer Creek, Scofield, and Jordanelle were her favorite spots. She spent wonderful times with friends telling fish stories, partying and catching big ones. Other hobbies included rock collecting, four-wheeling, exploring the outdoors and traveling.
She was a proud member of the LGBTQ community and gained many friends and loved ones through her association and activism in the gay community.
Always unabashedly true to herself, she loved socializing, seeing new places, telling jokes, and she was always the life of the party.
Jan was proud of her heritage on both the Francom and the Christensen sides of her family tree. She displayed photos of family and grandparents throughout her house.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carla and brother, Kent. She is survived by her loving sister Julie Mills (who served as her caregiver in Jan's final days), Julie's husband, Darrell Mills; Kevin Francom (brother and lifetime best friend); Kevin's wife, Sally Fowler Francom; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wants to thank Jan's loyal friends and loved ones who visited in her last days. She died as a result of alcohol-related liver disease.
A memorial service is in the planning stages and will be announced on social media. All friends and family are welcome to come to that event, have a bite to eat, share a story and laugh about good times with Jan.
Interment, Levan, Utah Cemetery.
