Jesse Brewster Anderson died in his home surrounded by loved ones on the 24th of July 2022. He was born on October 9, 1948 in Logan, Utah, the first born of Dorothy Dickson and Parley Garth Anderson.

The oldest of five boys, young Jesse spent summers in Castle Dale hauling hay with Grandma and Grandpa Anderson, learning to fish, joining in on the deer hunt, and sharing family meals with cousins and extended family. Visits from their sophisticated and erudite Uncle Buds from the East Coast were an anticipated highlight for the Anderson boys. He attended BY High in Provo for elementary through high school as a member of the class of '66. In his time in school, Jesse found and developed his admirable talents for woodworking, leatherwork, masonry, and other craftsmanship. Many fine examples of his workmanship are honored pieces in our homes, and have been built as custom work in the homes he lived in.

During this time he also found that he had a brain for math, which led to a degree in civil engineering from BYU. Jesse found satisfaction in his work on large-scale engineering projects including being part of the design team for the reconstructed Thistle Dam, working on the Las Vegas Speedway project, and designing many highways and freeways in the western US. Jesse always drove the roads like he owned them, and maybe in some way he did just a little bit more than the rest of us.

Finishing up an internship for college at the Utah State Department of Transportation, Jesse met Sharon Clark, a beautiful secretary in the office who was sweetly the only woman he ever dated. They shared their first date at the movie True Grit, which was often shown at their home over the following 51 years. They married as close as they could to Valentine's Day on Feb 12, 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple. They honeymooned at Disneyland, where they began a decades-long tradition of sharing delight for their magical place with children and grandchildren. Jesse and Sharon made their first home together in Lehi where their four children were born. Subsequent moves took their family to Fresno, California and Henderson, Nevada, before Jesse and Sharon resettled in Northern Utah for retirement. Jesse was the consummate gentleman, taking care to keep Sharon's gas tank full, opening every door, and sweetly complimenting her talents and grace.

Jesse was a generous soul that found great purpose and satisfaction serving whole-heartedly in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He recalled especially tenderly his time serving as the bishop of the Valle Verde Ward in Henderson. He was a man that was easily touched by the Spirit, who wept openly, and developed an eloquence for sharing his testimony. In his final years of poor health, he was nourished by his faith through temple service and meditating on hymns sung by the Tabernacle Choir. Jesse's commitment to faith and family is one of the great inheritances we receive as his children and loved ones.

We are grateful for the kind life of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and give thanks that he is free from difficult disease and on to the next steps of his progression. We look forward with bright faith to being reunited with him again.

Jesse is survived by his wife Sharon; son Jason (Natalie Rowley); daughter Jayne Ekins (Jacob); daughter Melissa Sykes (Glenn); son Brian; grandchildren McKenna, Jaedyn, Marielle, Ellen, James, Mike, Dylan, Clark, Garrett, Danny, Anne and Niels; brother Gavin Anderson (Jill); brother Cameron Anderson (Shirley); brother Wayne Anderson (Cindi); and brother Kelly Anderson (Gail), and many loved nieces and nephews. Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Parley and Dorothy, and two grandchildren, Samuel and Samantha.

Friends and family may call at a viewing at 9 am on Friday, July 29 2022 at Wing Mortuary (118 E Main St, Lehi, UT), followed by funeral services at 10 am. Interment to immediately follow at Lehi City Cemetery.
