JoAnne Beverly Clark George "Grandma Jo" beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed peacefully at her home in Idaho Falls on July 8, 2020. JoAnne was born November 22, 1929 in Provo, Utah to John Raymond Clark and Lola Marietta Ivie. She was born the sixth of eight children. She grew up in Provo, Utah. Attended Provo High school and Brigham Young University. She married Warren Phister in 1948 they had two son's, Dennis Craig Phister and Neal Clark Phister, they later divorced. JoAnne married Gary F. George Sr in 1963, they had one son Gary F. George Jr., they later divorced. She lived in several places throughout her life, Provo Utah, Hayward California, Lake Tahoe California, Sparks Nevada, Holladay Utah, Lehi Utah, and Idaho Falls, ID.

JoAnne worked in accounting for many years and retired from American Express. After retirement she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Seattle, Washington. She served faithfully in many church callings, her favorite was working and teaching primary aged children and the youth. She was an avid reader and loved learning from many types of books. She loved old movies and enjoyed playing golf, badminton, croquet and playing chess. She really liked teaching others to play chess, especially her grandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She was the "fun" grandma and loved spoiling them with treats.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents John and Marietta, sister Margaret, sister Maurine, sister Viola, brother Paul, brother Gerald, brother John, and sister Janice. Survived by children, Dennis (Sue) Phister, Neal (Aun) Phister, Gary (Jennifer) George. Grandchildren, Jon (Shay) Phister, Eric (Pam) Phister, Andrea (Wes) Bunderson, Jaunice Phister Brooks, Brayden (Abby) George, Kelsey (Parker) Barnes, Garett George. Great Grandchildren, Sam, Jack, Kate, June, Jessica, Bethany, Hailey, Ellie, Lacey, Lexi, Sofia, Gavin, and Dillinger.

We would like to express a special thank you to Encompass Home Health and Hospice of Idaho Falls. Especially Bandi Jo and Melissa, who Jo developed a special relationship with. We also want to give a special thank you to Xanni, who provided in-home care. Jo loved you dearly.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 @ 11:00 am at Wing Mortuary. 118 E. Main Lehi, UT 84043. Internment will be at the Provo City Cemetery. 610 So. State Street Provo, UT 84606.
