John "Jack" Oral Roberts passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age of 96 on May 16, 2022. Born on September 20, 1925 in Lehi, UT, Jack was the youngest of 5 sons of Martha Ann Helquist Roberts and Millard Roberts. He grew up in Lehi and developed a strong work ethic where hard work was the way of life on their family farm. Family was always central in Jack's life, and he and his brothers were very close.

Jack attended Lehi High School and enlisted in the Navy when he was 18 years old (he thought the food would be better in the Navy) and served in the south Pacific through wars end. His travels took him to many places including Okinawa, Japan, and the Philippines. Still keen of mind, not long before his passing Jack was regaling family and active duty military personnel with his amazing recall of islands and locations he visited while serving.

Upon returning home Jack was employed at Geneva Steel for 35 years. Starting out as a steel worker, by the time of his retirement Jack had attained the most demanding and highly coveted position at the plant, that of the steel roller. Working by himself in a small glass cage perched high, he manually operated hand and foot controls that controlled the quality and size of the steel being made. After his retirement new ownership took over the plant, and Jack's work was thought so highly of that he was brought back as a consultant to train others. Jack loved his job at Geneva and in 35 years was never late or missed a shift.

After meeting his future wife on a blind date, Jack married Elaine Steed in Cardston, Alberta, where she had grown up, on July 13, 1953. They built their home together in Lehi, where Jack lived until his passing 66 years later. They raised three children, Jaclyn Eulann, Janice and John. Continuing in the family tradition, Jack and the family worked their large, magnificent vegetable garden and fruit orchard, while also raising sheep and cows in the back pasture.

Jack loved gardening, fishing, hunting, and traveling. Each summer he made good on his promise to Elaine to take her home, and the family vacationed with her large Canadian family in Alberta, most of whom to this day remain very close. They cherished their family, friends and wonderful neighbors. In his later years Jack enjoyed being the one to spread the family news. Because the entire family always stayed in touch with him, he relished the opportunity to keep everyone up on what was going on throughout the family. Of course, he was an avid Jazz fan as well, which always brought him great pleasure while never missing watching or listening to a game.

Jack was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many capacities over his 96 years of life. He served faithfully as a home teacher for over 50 years, which he truly enjoyed. Of the many callings he and Elaine served together, they loved serving in the Provo Tabernacle together.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved Elaine, his parents, all four of his brothers, Ronald, Mick, Glen and Lee, son-in-law, Dr. Steven Dean Gray and great granddaughter, Lila Jane Pasker. He is survived by his children, Jackie Roberts (Jeff Goldstein), Janice Gray, and John (Amy) Roberts, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East, following the service.
